It has become a rally event with a great tradition. And not only that. It is also the largest Car Ride sporting event in the Netherlands. And this ride will be held for the 13e time in the weekend of 14 and 46 in May: The Night of Weesp.

The pleasure rally is organized by Autosportvereniging de Vechtstreek. The Nacht van Weesp is an orientation ride and is driven over approximately 280 km. The competition area is spread over Utrecht and Noord-Holland, divided over four routes. Participation in 'De Nacht' is open to all passenger cars that meet the legal requirements. The public will see modern cars, classics and young timers. The number of cars that will appear at the start is estimated at 200. There are no special requirements for the cars. The organization does check the participating vehicle fleet for soundness.

True crews

The cars will be driven by real teams. A crew consists of a car with driver and a navigator. In addition, for example, a map reading light and a solid surface (map reading board) for navigation work are among the basic equipment of the cars, with which the nightly rally is held.

Different classes

The Nacht van Weesp is held in different classes, with a distinction in performance level and car class category. Starting teams will mainly compete in the Touring class. Licensees and crews with some will predominantly operate within the C class. For the very advanced there is the A and B class. Advanced Classic drivers (cars older than 1985) can compete in the Classic Sport class. And for the less experienced Classic drivers the Classic Touring class has been set up. In addition, there is also a Youngtimer class for young timers from 01-01-1985 to 01-01-2000.

Information evening

The information evening takes place on Tuesday evening 9 in May at the Royal Harmony De Adelaar, located at Papelaan 126 A in Weesp. The Night of Weesp will erupt a few days later - on 13 in May at 17.30 hour. Then the first participating crew will start and ride into the night accompanied by a slowly setting sun. The award ceremony will take place on Sunday evening 14 May 2017, starting at 20.00 hour. And that is a happening, where the rally exponents tell in great detail how the route could best be driven. This is followed by the presentation of prizes, also within the walls of the Royal Harmony De Adelaar.
