Purchasing classics there

The 32nd edition of the National Old-timer Day Lelystad will take place this year on Sunday 19 June. This year's largest free-access classic car event in the Netherlands shows, in addition to a collection of 400 special historic automobiles, for the first time historic vessels (round and flat-bottomed ships) and a show of historic lifeboats and sloops. Weather permitting, the 75-year-old Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina flying boat will fly over the site. The Bataviaboulevard in Lelystad will turn this day into a mobile museum for 'heritage that moves' and where there is something to experience for every visitor.

BMW will also liven up its 100th anniversary on the shores of the former Zuiderzee with a real hall of honor. But also the Ford Mustang, which celebrated its 2014th anniversary in 50, made a true contribution to the development of American four-seat sports cars and an overview of the development of public transport for bus: 'Bus transport Then & Now'.

Copper period and growling sports cars
In addition, unique historic cars will participate, including a Panhard et Levassor Tonneau (1900), a La Ponette Runabout (1909), the Peugeot 92 (1907), the Straker Squire Open Tourer (1910), a Fiat Tipo III Roi des Belges (1909 ), the Hupmobile 20 Runabout (1910) and a Wolseley Siddeley Open Tourer (1908). It concerns vehicles built in the 'copper period'. From the pre-war period, 'growling' sports cars also come to the start, including Bentley, Alvis, Alfa Romeo, Bugatti. The post-war period is depicted with, among other things, a Maserati 3500 GT Superleggera, a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II Drophead Coupe and Chevrolet Corvette. Cars that have won their spurs in various domestic and foreign rallies and multi-day tours. Remarkable is the registration of a Bentley R Continental Fastback Mulliner Coupé (1954). The car was purchased by the then Shah of Persia, Rehza Pahlavi, who made several private trips with his wife Empress Farah Diba. Also special: Mr. Smits from Kleve, Germany, will proudly show his beautiful and completely original Roadside Assistance Harley Davidson, also in the context of the 70th anniversary of the ANWB Wegenwacht.

The exhibition "Bus transport then and now" is graced by, among others, a Crossley de Schelde, who started passenger transport again in the first years after the war. This was necessary because of the destroyed rail infrastructure. Image: Old-timer day Lelystad

Public transport presentation
The presentation of public transport includes the first scheduled service bus (Borne - Enschede), a T Ford from 1924, an NS Crossley De Schelde from 1947 and - as a surprise dessert - a Mercedes Benz M Tourismo from 2014 (the OAD player bus from the AFC Ajax). An impressive collection of a total of 16 city buses and coaches. Two fire engines present themselves at the existing fire brigade vehicles. One from Wormerveer (1901) and one from Gorinchem (1910), pulled by two Zeeland work horses.

Kitchen On Wheels
In addition to the historic cars, the National Oldtimerdag Lelystad takes care of the inner man, with a number of kitchens on wheels. There is a kid's square with a large bouncy castle and a children's carousel and there is a Kids Karting track for the Max Verstappens. Two DJs run from classic cars and the day is further musically surrounded by various performances and wind orchestras.

From 9.00 hours to 17.00 hours
Sunday 19 June from 09.00 to 17.00, visitors in Lelystad can enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere on the banks of the Markermeer. From an event that the organization worked on for no less than ten months. In cooperation with Arriva you can be transported from the station to the event grounds for a reduced amount. Access to the trail is free.
