Porsche 4 × 4

Metal sun visor

The American automobile industry, more suppliers of accessories, made the (metal) sun visor popular. It only took a while and they were also available in Europe. For many an absolute must on a Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen Bus, MG Magnette ZA / ZB, Volvo PV444 / PV445, Amazon and so on. Go look for such a sun visor.

BMW 3.0 CS: stolen

Bart loves his BMW. Just like any classic enthusiast, he cherishes the 3.0 CS and the car has a place under the carport. Bart can see him there every day. That was also the case on Tuesday 27 March. The next day the place under the carport was empty. The once-present BMW 3.0 CS now shone with its absence. The car was stolen on the night of 27 on 28 March.

Rover P4 parts

The Rover P4 isn't very popular among classic car enthusiasts in the Low Countries. This is somewhat surprising, as it offers impressive looks and excellent value for money. In Great Britain, however, it's a different story. Specialists can even make a living from them there.

Rover P5B: bargain

No one can deny that a Rover P5B is not an impressive car. Moreover, there are few left of it and are therefore rare today. Again as a reader of Auto Motor Klassiek. We ran into a Mr. Hircock who has such a Rover in his garage that he would like to get rid of.

Chassis numbers: note !!

Every vehicle that comes on the road in the Netherlands has a stamped chassis number. Named the official vehicle identification number (VIN) and registered by the government in the basic vehicle register at the RDW. It is important for the identification of the vehicle. And yet many cars drive around in the Netherlands without a VIN. Modern cars often have an accident. With traditional transport, however, such a VIN sometimes disappear during a repair or restoration by a well-intended restorer. Even with professional restoration companies it sometimes seems that such a number disappears.

Mercedes-Benz 540K, exceptional heirloom

After years of research, a British car dealer pulled the jackpot in a partially collapsed shed on a farm in Russia. With some help from third parties, he was able to trace the Mercedes-Benz 540K Roadster with which, during the 2e Disagreement with our Eastern neighbors, Hermann Wilhelm Göring, founder of the German Luftwaffe and the Gestapo, among others.

Mini facts

The first Austin and Morris Mini's saw the light of day in April 1959 and were in Great Britain in books like Austin Mini Seven (with the word Seven being written as 'Se7s' in early publications!) And Morris Mini Minor.

Steamboat must be saved

Boats are not directly an item that you encounter in 'your' Auto Motor Klassiek, but we believe that a so-called 'Paddle Steamer' from 1937 should be given a fair chance in its aftermath. After the ship that was christened in 1937 Ryde and since then maintained the crossing from the Isle of Wight to Portsmouth, came out of active service in 1966, it was purchased by a dance and nightclub operator and converted into a floating attraction.
