The Noordhollands Oldtimerfestival has grown into an annual event where classic cars and their stories are central. For visitors, the festival offers the opportunity to admire and experience the rich history of the automobile, while restorers and exhibitors expertly display their craftsmanship. As always on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, the event is also on the agenda this year on April 1 and 2.
An atmosphere that breathes history
Upon entering the North Holland Oldtimer Festival, the authentic atmosphere is immediately noticeable. The sound of running engines, the shine of carefully maintained bodies and the characteristic smell of motor oil and petrol evoke a sense of nostalgia. Each vehicle seems to tell its own story: from sleek sports cars from the 50s to robust examples that once played an important role in the regional fleet. The event does not focus exclusively on the technical characteristics, but also emphasises the historical value and development of the automobile in North Holland and beyond.
The atmosphere is characterized by a calm, sincere tone. Visitors get into conversation about the stories behind the vehicles, without the presence of commercial stimuli. This gathering of classic car enthusiasts forms a platform where knowledge, anecdotes and memories are shared, and in which the focus lies on the preservation of automotive history. Various local media reports have repeatedly emphasized how the festival contributes to the awareness of cultural heritage and the role of technology in the past, which makes the Noordhollands Oldtimerfestival more than a traditional car show.
Highlights of the current edition
The current edition is distinguished by a special display of rare and well-maintained classics. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire models that have been restored with the utmost care. The vehicles are presented in their original glory, with authentic interiors and engines that still display their original character. The attention to detail is clearly visible here and ensures that the historical value of the cars is honored in a respectful manner.
In addition to the vehicle exhibitions, the Noordhollands Oldtimerfestival also uses a varied program. For example, there are demonstrations of oldtimer restorations in which visitors gain insight into the technical and craft aspects of restoring classic cars. If desired, interested parties can ask questions to the exhibitors and experts in the field of classic car technology. In addition, several thematic presentations are organized in which the evolution of specific iconic models and the developments in car technology are mapped out. These presentations contribute to an educational experience for both seasoned experts and newcomers to the field of classic vehicles.
An important aspect of this edition is the combination of a respectful presentation with an educational character. Restoration demonstrations and technical explanations ensure that the craftsmanship behind the classic cars is clearly highlighted, without the emphasis on commercial promotion. The emphasis is on transferring knowledge and respect for the cultural heritage that these vehicles represent.
Looking back at previous editions
Previous editions of the Noordhollands Oldtimerfestival have shown time and again that the event offers more than a standard car show. Various media reports have described the festival as a gathering with character, in which the passion for classic vehicles and the preservation of automotive history are central. Local newspapers and car magazines reported that the festival is a meeting place for car enthusiasts who come together to appreciate the technical and historical aspects of the oldtimers.
Much attention is paid to the careful presentation of the vehicles. Exhibitors present their cars not simply as driving examples, but as stories from the past, illustrating how generations of craftsmanship and dedication have contributed to what we today regard as cultural-historical heritage. The respectful nature of the festival, in which the stories and technical details are central, ensures that visitors develop a deep understanding of the evolution of automotive technology.
The attention to technical details and restoration techniques also received positive feedback. The fact that exhibitors take the time to explain the origins of the cars and the specific restoration processes contributes to a broader appreciation for the craftsmanship required to maintain these classics. This informative approach has made the Noordhollands Oldtimerfestival stand out again and again as an educational platform within the local and national car community.
The festival as an educational platform
One of the strengths of the Noordhollands Oldtimerfestival is the educational character that is felt throughout the event. In addition to the exhibition of vehicles, the festival offers a series of lectures, demonstrations and workshops aimed at deepening the knowledge of classic cars. These activities are led by experts and allow visitors to learn about the unique techniques and challenges that come with restoring old motor vehicles.
The educational aspect of the festival contributes to the preservation of technical knowledge and craftsmanship. Restorers and exhibitors share their experiences and techniques, which not only provides a practical overview of the work, but also underlines the historical importance of these vehicles. For everyone who is interested in the technical and historical background of classic cars, the Noordhollands Oldtimerfestival is a valuable platform for knowledge sharing.
Future prospects
Although the festival is firmly rooted in tradition, there is also attention for the future. Organizers and exhibitors signal a growing interest in innovative restoration techniques that can support traditional methods. This tension between preservation and innovation is mentioned as a positive development, in which the historical value of the vehicles is preserved, but there is also room for technological innovation.
The participation of younger generations in the festival is an indication of a continuing interest in classic cars. These new target groups are actively involved in both the technical and historical aspects of the festival, creating a bridge between the past and the future. The Noordhollands Oldtimerfestival not only serves the traditional enthusiasts, but also focuses on a broader and younger target group, which guarantees the continuity of the event.
In summary, the festival offers a dynamic mix of tradition and innovation. By presenting both existing knowledge and techniques and embracing new methods, the event aims to preserve the heritage of classic automobiles for future generations.
Historic and Classic Cars from the Méditerranée
The 2025 edition will feature a special item called “Historic and Classic Cars from the Mediterranean Region”. This stand will exhibit various special and historically relevant car models. For example, you will find French classics such as the Traction Avant, various examples from the Citroën DS series, the Talbot Matra and a Peugeot from 1953 – this Peugeot even got a modern electric motor. You will also find Renault Sportscars and other classics that have been somewhat forgotten over the years.
The program also includes a 1927 Bugatti Grand Prix and a Ferrari 430 from 2006. The Italian automobiles from the past are extensively covered, including various models of Alfa, Lancia, Maserati and Fiat. Not to forget the well-known small Fiat 500, next to the Fiat Giardiniera (with trailer, which only differs in size from the Pinobello). Some special Deux Chevaux are temporarily on loan from the museum in Andijk, so that you can compare these models on the spot with their imported counterparts from Brazil.
The most exclusive cars of the entire festival are the Bugatti Race Cars – never seen before and almost a hundred years old. These winning race cars from the 24s, which conquered the Grand Prix and the XNUMX Hours of Le Mans twice, are of course very special. The Bugatti Race Cars are flanked by a Bugatti Atlantic Rep, which the organization considers the most beautiful of the entire show.
The enormous complex at Torenweg 44 in Venhuizen (between Hoorn and Enkhuizen) offers space for hundreds of vehicles, from trucks and cars to motorcycles and mopeds. Parking is free, the entrance fee is only €14 and for children up to and including 17 years €7. Children up to and including 12 years old can enter for free.
