Mission 2014. Our Return is an extensive online multimedia story about the return to Le Mans with the 919 Hybrid. The history that the brand has written on the legendary circuit over more than 60 years is also extensively discussed. Part of that history is the victory of Gijs van Lennep in 1971. He finished first in France 43 years ago. His tool was the Porsche 917, which is technically light years away from the current trump card. Even so, this Zuffenhauser, prepared for absolute top performance, was also a model of technical innovation. It caused a sensation with an aluminum chassis and a body made of glass-fiber reinforced plastic. was very startling because of the unique composition of the car. In the past, Porsche also impressed at Le Mans with the rear-engined 550 Spyder, the lightweight 904 and the first turbo-charged 911.

Learn from Le Mans
An important storyline is 'the usefulness of Le Mans'. Porsche frequently uses the circuit as a 'testing ground'. Many technologies that can be found on street models were tested on the circuit in competition. The 'longread' focuses extensively on the innovative 919 Hybrid that is equipped with a powerful V4 (!) As soon as the 919 accelerates, the generator changes at lightning speed into a battery-powered electric motor that momentarily drives the front wheels, giving the car not only even more power, but also four-wheel drive. This saves the nevertheless 350 km / h fast car fuel and therefore requires fewer fuel stops. Porsche calls the 919 Hybrid itself "the most complicated car it built." According to "Zuffenhausen", the technology will be a starting point for future Porsches.
