Ronald Vermeulen, who lives in the picturesque Veenendaal, is the proud owner of a true classic: a Renault Vivaquatre KZ23 from 1935. This car, currently in a robust matte black epoxy primer, is already driveable, even though the interior and paintwork still need to be done. be completed. Ronald takes it for as many rides as possible, enjoying every kilometer.
The Renault Vivaquatre: an icon from history
Launched in 1932, the Renault Vivaquatre was an impressive car for its time. Designed with both style and comfort in mind, this car had a rugged build and offered a smooth driving experience. The Vivaquatre was available in several versions, including luxury sedans and commercial models, and was known for its reliability and elegance. With its 2.1-litre four-cylinder engine it started in the 10CV tax class, and later in 1936 the engine was enlarged to 2.4 litres, reaching a maximum power of 56 hp.
The story of Ronald's Vivaquatre
Ronald's adventure with the Renault Vivaquatre started in 1977 when the car was brought to the Netherlands by a garage owner. In 2002 Ronald bought this classic car as a failed project. After a year of preparation and gathering information, he started the restoration. “I had to repair or recreate everything myself, because sheet metal for this car is almost impossible to find,” says Ronald enthusiastically. He even had the door handles copied; these just need to be chromed.
What is special about Ronald's Vivaquatre is that the odometer only shows 5000 kilometers. The good condition of the rotating parts and sheet metal suggest that this low mileage may be correct. “Even the honing marks are still visible in the cylinder walls,” Ronald explains.
Technical adjustments and restoration
Ronald has made some adjustments to the leaf spring package at the rear of the car. He removed two springs, so that the number of springs now corresponds to what is stated in the original workshop manual. Originally the car had extra firm suspension due to its commercial/station version.
A passion for classics
In addition to the Renault Vivaquatre, Ronald also owns a Nissan 300ZX Z31 from 1986 and a Kawasaki Z650. “Technology and electronics are really a guiding principle in my life,” says Ronald, smiling. His goal is to bring the Renault into perfect technical condition before completing the final steps of the restoration, such as spraying and finishing the upholstery.
The future of the Renault Vivaquatre
Ronald Vermeulen is not only a lover of classic vehicles, but also a true professional who brings his passion to life. At 56 years old, he has already gained a lot of experience in restoring and maintaining classic cars and motorcycles. His story with the Renault Vivaquatre KZ23 is an inspiring example of dedication and love for technology.

A beautiful project, a unique car to cherish.
Such a beautiful car from the 30s and a great challenge to restore something like that.
Unfortunately, just about all of these 30's and 40's cars were destroyed during the 60's-70's and 80's.
During that period, vintage cars were simply viewed as scrap.
It was also during that period that Ghislain Mahy was a bit ridiculed because he went to the scrap yards looking for vintage cars for his future museum.
In terms of design, I really think the 30s and 40s are the best!
C'est jolie; good luck!
Special project that will also delight the spoiled audience. But also praise and appreciation for those who are willing and able to successfully complete such a risky project. Already a success, but apparently there will also be a icing on the cake. Nous verrons!
Special car
Respect for what you do
Such a beautiful Renault
