In 2017, Roland D'Ieteren handed over the chairmanship of the board of directors of the (partially) listed company D'Ieteren to his only son Nicolas, who is still chairman today. Until then, he was the head of the importer of Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Porsche, Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini. Roland D'Ieteren worked for the family business from 1972 after having worked for Volkswagen in Brazil for several years. A childhood friend of Volkswagen's patriarch Ferdinand Piëch, who died last year, D'Ieteren already exerted his influence, fifteen years ago, to preserve the Volkswagen factory in Forest, now Audi Brussels.
