The Fiat 600 is a classic that everyone knows and the sporty drivers among us are of course familiar with the many Abarth versions that appeared in the course of earlier years. Due to the success of the Fiat 600, they were released - under license - in Spain as Seat 600, in Yugoslavia as Zastava 750 and perhaps less known under the name Jagst at NSU-Fiat in Germany. Anne van Kramer Classics from Wolvega occasionally enjoys driving a few laps with this specially designed Zastava 750 Luxe from 1974, after which he has to go back to the shed to look for a new owner.

Abarth version?

No, but a very special car from a private restoration with only 63.000 km on the clock. Let's start with a summary. The base of this Abarth replica is a Zastava 750 de Luxe. The car received an engine overhaul and has been converted to a 1000 TC replica. The car got a new braking system and tyres, Cromodore 5×13 rims. The clutch and pressure group were also replaced and the engine was fitted with a lightweight flywheel. A 4-into-2 sports exhaust was also added. The restorer from Maastricht wrote in his report that the Fiat had a hard bottom with some light rust spots here and there. The car was painted semi-professionally.

What's so great about this classic?

What appeals is that it is a fast and eye-catching appearance and it attracts a lot of attention - and also signals of appreciation - on the road. The beautiful photos are the proof! It is a Dutch copy where the cooling is made in the front of the bumper. It remains important for enthusiasts that the original license plate remains on it. Finally, it is of historical importance.

Maybe it's better for Anne to give the fast rascal the spurs regularly, because before you know it he's gone again.

  1. What a nice car, me and my brother had a lot of fun with our fiat 600 cross cars that kept driving things, engine in the back so at an abrupt turn the fiat 1 lifted off its rear wheels, until you go too far, lying on its side, get out upright push and drive on again, extremely strong
