The Suzuki Intruder 750 was - and is - according to quite a few people - the only beautiful custom bike that the Japanese have ever made. The VS 1400 is almost twice as large in terms of cylinder capacity, so it must also be twice as beautiful. Logical right?
A big 1400 cc
Such a Suzuki Intruder VS 1400 with its 1400 cc V-twin was a real Harley counterpart. The block also delivers so much torque that you can drive, boom, cruise and / or stroll along with it. The large V-twin drives best between the 120-140 km / h, but in terms of windage it is best to stay below the 120 km / h. When driving around between the 100-120 km / h, such a Suzuki Intruder runs a bit from 1 to 20. The tank capacity is a reasonable 13 liter. So you don't have to drive from duty pump to duty pump.
Steer reasonable
At low speeds, the Suzuki Intruder VS 1400 is somewhat unstable. At a reasonable pace, that phenomenon is over, but the twin does require the hand of a sturdy mate. The thing is just rather rude. A Suzuki Intruder VS 1400 drives straight on rails. In terms of brakes, it also looks like a train. The front brake requires serious grip. The rear brake is more than a useful help. The rear suspension is just as hard as the front suspension is smooth, and on a long drive the VS 1400 pilot is guaranteed a sore ass. The seat pit is shaped in such a way that you cannot move on it. And the passenger has also suffered quite a bit in terms of space.
Technically good
In the course of its production, the Suzuki Intruder VS 1400 has hardly changed. The engine block is reliable and can handle many kilometers with reasonable to normal use. But on blocks that showed with open exhausts and far too low revs just how cool the rider was, there can be serious big end damage. The cylinders, heads and exhausts get very hot. Many a cool Suzuki Intruder VS 1400 rider who braved the summer sun in shorts suffered serious burns. Not kewl!
If there are any pain points, it is that the chrome is not of optimum quality, and that Suzuki did not use the best plug connections during the construction period of this series. Oh yes: And replacing the then very cool rear tire is still no mess.
They are often rebuilt
The compulsive tendency to grow motorcycles has been known for centuries by Harley owners. We will not talk about the result. Each has its own taste. But still look for an original copy, all the more so because we have seen quite a bit of renovation work that compromised the safety of such machines. Open outlets were not always combined with an adjusted nozzle occupation.
Those motorcycles have often stood more than driven. Replace the tires, brake hoses and brake fluid. Then you can just be the owner of a reliable, quite well-proportioned bullige custom where you have a lot of cruise pleasure, little maintenance (cardan) and no more depreciation. Oh yes: The Suzuki Intruder 800 cc versions are about as much fun.
Not to mention the VS600.
Certainly not! Also nice!
