Alfa Romeo 90 (2.5) Quadrifoglio Oro Iniezione (1987) Timeless model for Eeltsje
The former teacher is certainly capable of talking passionately about his car hobby and his love for Italian classics. Whether it's Alfa Whether it's Lancia or FIAT, Romeo can talk and philosophize about them for hours with infectious enthusiasm. For over 30 years, his Italian vacations were essentially also searches for classic cars, some of which are still proudly displayed in his warehouse. Eeltsje: "The cars I encountered back then were just regular 'old' cars, so not priced 'classically'; the picture has completely changed now."
Italian chic
Eeltsje: “The 90 is a larger model, and an intermediate model, because the production period was very short. It came onto the market at the end of 1984 and was replaced in 1987 by the Alfa 164. The choice of engines at that time was a 4-cylinder, a six-cylinder and a diesel. My Alfa 90 was the top model of the series, a 2,5 V6 Quadrifoglio Oro.” He bought the six-year-old Alfa 90 as a family car and drove it for seven years without any problems. Later, it was garaged and eventually promoted to a hobby car.
A personal story of bad luck
“We were at an Italian campsite and the Alfa It wouldn't start. I called the ANWB (Royal Dutch Touring Club), but they couldn't come that day. So I kept trying, and with difficulty, the engine finally ran, but on three or four cylinders. The prolonged standstill over damp forest floor was probably one of the causes of the problem. Just to be safe, I bought a new Motronic (but ultimately didn't use it). Overheating was a constant threat: a full load with a caravan towed, slow traffic jams, mountainous roads... Replacing it with a copper radiator, which cools better than an aluminum one, and installing an additional fan circuit was the final solution.
Enjoy your car hobby?
Eeltsje: “A car hobby is fun when it gets a bit out of hand. For example, there is a Alfa Romeo Alfetta in mint condition, a Alfa Duetto as a project, a Alfa Bertone Sprint GT and a FIAT 500 Giardiniera. Also, a FIAT 126, a motorcycle from World War II, and a Dutch Bitri scooter. My "hall of fame" is a nice way to playfully connect the past and present; as a senior citizen, I cherish the past, and that's what makes me happy."

There was a Alfa 90 briefcase that fit in the dashboard, I didn't have the 90 case, but I did have the 75 Turbo.
