Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super 1300 (1975) It Alfa-heart speaks with Sjoerd
Look at her standing there on the pier in Holwerd, Friesland. It's wonderful to be able to look at such an Italian showpiece like the Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super can you keep looking? It proves that owner Sjoerd values individualism in style and classic beauty. This Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super will continue to capture the hearts of many enthusiasts, purely for that unmistakable Italian flair. A true enthusiast won't pass by without a flicker of emotion; just the thought of the rich Alfa-past, a mix of technical top performance, ingenuity and beauty, does something to you.
The street scene of the 70s
Do you ever fondly recall the streets of the 1970s? The ANWB (Royal Dutch Touring Club) held a contest for the nicest, most beautiful, or most unique car from that era. The list included, among others, Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super, BMW 2002, Audi 80, Ford Taunus, Volvo P1800 ES, Peugeot 504, Opel Ascona, Citroën 2CV, Porsche 911, Volkswagen Golf, Alfa Romeo Alfasud, Renault 5, Mini, Fiat 127 and the Volkswagen Beetle.
The results surprised many. Of course, the Beetle, the 2CV, and the Mini finished in the top three, but fourth and fifth place went to the Volvo and the Alfa Romeo Giulia. Fifty years later, this Giulia would still easily claim a place in the hall of fame of classics.
The early love for Alfa Romeo
Sjoerd: “It actually started with the popular TV series The octopus from the eighties, in which the police – of course also in the Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super – hunted the mafia. Now you can find countless videos to enjoy, especially if it Alfa-heart speaks.”
His dormant interest was truly rekindled by participating in a Giulia tour through Italy. That was the moment he was truly hooked and fell in love with this beautiful classic with its punchy engine and direct driving style. Twelve days immersed in authentic Sicily, on dusty roads past ancient sites, with a classic Alfa beneath you; that combination made the trip more than worth it.
Personal identity
For true enthusiasts, it's always interesting to know a car's history. Who owned it, what has the car been through, and how has it been maintained?
It's not what, but who you know
Sjoerd: “Through an acquaintance, I came into contact with Federico Bartani in Pesaro, rally driver and mechanic. He had a beautiful 1975 Giulia Nuova Super in a beautiful 'Blu Hollandese' color, and just as important: with a good story behind the car.” That's how he found his Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super.
The story of a secure owner
This Giulia was cherished by its second owner for a full forty years. Even his own son wasn't allowed to drive it; it had to be kept in pristine condition. Whether the increase in value played a role is unknown, but all indications are that it was primarily about sentimental value, not about money. After the owner's death, his son drove it briefly, after which the car was put up for sale.
Sjoerd: “Based on a good feeling, especially because of Federico's story and documentation, I took the plunge and bought and paid for the car remotely.” Speaking of trust, this is how he bought his beloved Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super.
A gem among historic cars
Sjoerd: "When the car arrived in September 2025, it exceeded all expectations. A rock-solid body, a beautiful interior, and a smooth-running engine. The RDW inspector was full of praise, and a new, classic, smaller license plate was quickly arranged. Then the enjoyment could begin; the late summer days are perfect for getting behind the wheel."
A nice detail: it is clamped onto the dashboard Proteggimi ovunque, which means 'Protect me everywhere'. That it may remain is self-evident. All this makes the Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super a gem among historic cars.

Beautiful car and completely balanced from all sides.
How ugly are the current cars on the streets.
About that last one: such a Alfa Stand in front of an old building to take a beautiful photo. Try to keep a modern car out of the frame.
What a beautiful car, wow! I used to see them more often, and unfortunately, they were often rusty. Great to see, thanks for that!
Perhaps the most beautiful 60s/70s classic. although the Triumph Dolomite must not be forgotten.
And neither does the Renault 16….
