Our classics are dormant and waiting for spring. The roads are too wet for cars and too slippery for motorbikes.
And then you notice a set of classics that cheerfully play outside in the gray greyness of the well of autumn. Off road still.
Jeep riders? People from Keep them Roling? No. They are a couple of men with old tractors. Agricultural machinery from before the farmer became a highly skilled agricultural entrepreneur.
Many of those old-timers have spent decades tucking behind a farmer's shed after decades of field work. And waited.
Restoring classic tractors is a recognized sport. Driving it is not bound by holder's rules and you do not have to be afraid of some loose leaves on the road.
And in order not to get wet, just put on your modern agricultural outdoor clothing. Or an old 'oil coat'. Or such an antique, stiff upright standing faded yellow PVC jacket and trousers. That is also traffic safe too.
Old tractors are kind of tough yet endearing. The technology is purely mechanical and is about the level of a brick in terms of cleverness. In terms of indestructibility too. They come in all shapes and sizes. But by today's standards they are just small. Except for the classic American tractors, of course. Because they are big. Impractically large. But very impressive
Too bad that such a thing requires so much space.
