In the unofficial headquarters of Switzerland, a brand new BMW 29 CS is delivered on 1975 June 2.5 by the BMW dealer in Bern. The Swiss housewife Helene ordered the car in Granat Rot and checked a blaupunkt radio on the options list. The car will not have been out of place in the chic district of Bern. She held her BMW 19 for years, after which the Bimmer came to our country. 

The green drive

The start of green driving was perhaps in the early '70. The current green driving is more a result of the awareness of the impact on our climate and is of many male great sustainability. In 1973 we were not bothered by that realization but an oil crisis arose.  An accomplished and acute fact that forced different car brands to do something about the consumption of their most generously motorized models. Of course, this was an immediate feat for the sale of the pinched versions with which the manufacturers could respond to the fear of the consumer. This prompted BMW to anticipate the possible fall in sales from the top range and to bring a more fuel-efficient variant of the BMW CS on the market. It all turned out to be short-lived.

Rare CS

The BMW 2.5 CS is the result of these crises and was launched in 1974. The boycott was boycotted again a year later and the sale of the 2.5 CS was limited to just 874 units. It has therefore become the rarest version in the CS range, mainly due to the very short production period. 2 years after the introduction of the 2.5, BMW stopped the CS to replace it with the 6 series.

The car from this report is that of Helene and is therefore such a super rare 2.5. On the outside there is nothing to fault on the car. What a beauty. The insanely popular Coupe served as the cradle of the brand's sporting image. To this day, that is what we associate with BMW. A true image builder. All characteristic style elements come together perfectly in this design. The sharknose, the hofmeisterkink, the double headlights, the high kidneys. Thin A and C styles and the lack of the B style. The 6 cylinder in-line engine is of course wonderful to hear. What a party. The cooperation with the machine is well arranged and with 150 PK on the rear wheels, this coupe is anything but under-motorized. Inside it is also old-fashioned enjoyment. Wood in the dance board at that time meant "wood in the dance board". So beautiful and especially real. The new black leather combines incredibly well with the new red paint. 

In the search for a rare dream classic it is often even rarer that all your wishes come together. But after purchasing this beauty, I would not know what remains to be desired.
