BMW 323i (E21) (1982): Carefree enjoyment for Jeremy
Take a look at this BMW 3-series from all sides. Examine it closely – it will gladly submit to your judgment. The BMW 323i has proven itself thousands of times over. It is a real BMW, with all those well-known and proven qualities.
The question now is: does it always have to be original?
That Jeremy's personal wishes have been expressed in this stunning red top model, you can see from the beautiful rims. The front also reveals something special: where the original version of the BMW 323i has double headlights, Jeremy opted for a version with a few copies.
And under the hood? That’s a whole other story…
Back in time
In 2010 Jeremy decided to buy a second car. But after three quarters of a year he thought it would be wiser to use the BMW 323i as a hobby car. A five-year plan was drawn up to build it completely to his own taste.
It is remarkable that Jeremy initially had no connection with BMW at all. But in those first months of daily use, the love slowly began to grow.
His basic principle: do everything himself – at a pace that suited his financial means. Because there was enough work to be done: rust problems, new sheet metal, tackling the power source and a professional spray-painting were at the top of the list. And although he could do a lot himself, professional help was still indispensable now and then.
The new technology under the hood
The original engine of the BMW 323i made way for a power source from a BMW E30. This was adapted to an ECU (Engine Control Unit), which is neatly concealed in the glove compartment.
A faster camshaft was fitted and the cylinder head was flowed (modified for better flow). The car now has a full stainless steel exhaust with spaghetti manifold. The radiator was custom made and is considerably thicker than the original.
The original four-speed gearbox made way for a five-speed gearbox, and the differential was completely overhauled. For extra braking power, Jeremy opted for Volvo 240 Turbo calipers up front, and BMW E30 calipers at the rear.
Many more parts have been replaced or improved, but it would take too long to list them all.

Jeremy: “I work in the transport world myself and know that contacts are important. For youngtimers, classics and oldtimers, these contacts are simply part of it.
I see myself as a healthy perfectionist and realize that as soon as a car is produced in large numbers, there are always people who want to do things just a little differently and give their own interpretation.
Despite all the adjustments to the BMW 323i, the balance between technology and driving pleasure must remain. It is clear that it is now a special version. You definitely get the feeling of the 80s with it.”

It really is a beautiful car. The engine is a jewel! It is nice to see that the power source is assured of a worthy home. A nice clean engine room. A feast for the eyes and a useful tool to be able to detect irregularities at an early stage. Kudos!!! Take good care of that beautiful red bolide, it is worth it twice over.
Nose is a bit damaged-transferred??
