Purchasing classics there

The value of our classics? In fact, it is just what makes fun of it. And in a time of low interest rates, there are a lot of well-upholstered fools who are willing to give 'a lot'. But they only do that in a small part of the spectrum. Nice classic drive? Nostalgia can still be very nicely priced.

And how heavily do you have to head for 'originality'?

That is a free choice. But the question then arises: "What is original?" And for enthusiasts with a wide frame of mind, a whole new world opens up.

Because if you look at the world from an uninhibited nostalgic view, if you look at the time back then and dive into your memories, you realize that not everyone rode MV four-cylinder, Honda six-cylinder and Z1300s. That you were also a big guy on a somewhat older 1000 cc four-cylinder. And that the four-cylinder arrived at you after he had already had a few owners? That he was no longer in showroom state? That he was seriously tackled to make him even more impressive? Well, there were already a lot of enthusiasts in the seventies and eighties who had their new motorcycle firmly tackled before delivery. The following owners did that on their own budget and under their own management.

We are talking about the time that everyone made four-in-one exhaust systems with a pipe bending machine and working with fiberglass sizes and polyester resin had become almost a popular entertainment. Of course there were also serious manufacturers of all that beauty, but it was a time when almost everything was still allowed. And many fat Kawaskis, Suzuki and thick Honda four-cylinder engines received instant updates that made them make so much noise that they seemed even faster. When fitting exhaust systems that were as open as possible, nozzle occupations were estimated over the wet finger because roller test benches were only for real professionals. Fortunately, the Japanese four-cylinder were so good that they could withstand a lot of abuse.

And all that to appear as quickly as possible

Because the motorcyclists from then went for speed. Not for civil uncomfortable as tourism.

For the looks there were tanks, seats and tank / seat combinations (or empty tank covers). At the front came clip us, 'broomstick' or 'hanging ears' steering wheels. There was a wide range of sets to bring the footrests and the brake and shift pedal further back and up. Up to the perverse.

In the meantime, machines of this type are coming onto the market with irregular regularity

You can now call them classic. Just like that is done with Tritons, Tribsa's and the like. If the engine looks furiously fiddled with, it makes sense to leave such a find. Overhauling a classic Japanese four-cylinder block costs serious money. And you will no longer find good used blocks for a couple of knuckles. But if the block apparently has had some maintenance and is running well? Then you can have just as little a fantastic basis for building something really fun. Nostalgia rules. The bike on the photo stands or stood with my friend Marco. The asking price was € 1.250.
