It is now admired by many as a classic. The Citroën Ami 6 Break is particularly spacious. For people with a normal build there is sufficient leg and headroom and the furniture is pleasantly shaped. The view of the road is excellent through the large windows. You can take more than a few suitcases with you. The Ami opens from bumper to roof to swallow everything it takes for a holiday (to France, of course) or a weekend out.
Stories about people, vintage cars and classics
De Citroën Ami 6 Break by Hans is a 'binder'. The story about being Citroën life contains all the elements that make his hobby so attractive. In fact; you can read the enthusiasm on every page of a previous interview. The story as a member of the events committee, as a board member, and no less than 18 years as a designer and sometimes a contribution in the form of a nice article for the club magazine. This way you get to know a lot of friends (Ami's).
enviously beautiful
We met Hans with his Citroën Ami 6 Break on an Ami weekend in the Frisian town of Kollum. Quite a few stylish French beauties showed off and were later seen on a fun route in the region. An infectious enthusiasm was noticeable, shared hobbies often mean friendships and that gives 'Joie de vivre'.
Nice memories
His father's first car was a luxury duck… a Dyane. The Citroënaddiction began to take shape, the dealer was surprised by visits from Hans to take all available leaflets with him. Plenty of model cars were also collected, only from Citroën naturally! The car life started: A Citroën Visa Super X, a Citroën Visa TRS, Citroën Visa 11 RE (for his wife). Then there were three more cars with the 'double chevron' on the nose; a Citroën ZX and two Berlingos.
Hobby car
The first Citroën Ami Break was found in Kortenhoef, in mint condition. He stayed for no less than 19 years. Even in the meantime, an Ami 6 Saloon (with the slanted diamond) came twice more to eventually end up at the Citroën Ami 6 Break Comfort of 1968, the protagonist of this article. Are we looking for an explanation why Hans has become so passionate and populates our roads (especially in summer) with this beautiful classic? We think that every human being – whether aware of it or not – is looking for some kind of perfect happiness. That feeling that is actually indescribable Hans has with his Citroënfound a hobby.

As mentioned before, this is also childhood sentiment for me. The Citroën ami. So wonderfully uniquely designed. So incredibly practical. They have unfortunately become so rare on the streets. sob!
