Citroën DS. 70 years unparalleled. Part 3: the report in AMK 5-2025
De Citroën DS is celebrating its 1955th anniversary this year. In October XNUMX, the French manufacturer turned the world upside down with its ultra-modern Citroën DS to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. Under the large domes of the Grand Palais, crowds of people gathered to see the Goddess. Seventy years later, the DS and the models inspired by it still attract admiring glances. In the coming period, we will regularly pay attention to the beautiful model series of Citroën, and to the derivatives. In addition, you can read an extensive story about the history in the new AMK edition. The beautiful ID 19 P of Hans and Anita Oostra is also central. The DS-70 years report is described in this part of the series about the anniversary of the DS.
You can count on it being special every time, to be with a Citroën DS, ID or ID F on the road, and write a story about it. The story about the Citroën ID 19 in Noordwolde, Friesland had been on the shelf for a while, and we integrated it into the report that was in the most recent Auto Motor Klassiek edition is included. Special: the owners of the beautiful ID 19 had been sitting on the Citroën-track to fulfill the classic desire. To their own surprise, however, they fell for the charms of the D-model family, and so they opted for 'the other extreme' within the classic Citroën-family.
We describe in Auto Motor Klassiek this - sprayed in Gris d'été - ID from 1965 (that's right: another anniversary) and give an impression of the condition and the ride through the beautiful surroundings of the owners' place of residence. And we mention much more in the nine-page story. We describe the first ten years of the history of the DS 'and related' in detail. The final part of the report consists of the overview 1966-1975, in which we go into the model development in more detail. In short sections we describe the competition successes and the bodywork of Chapron, who liked to let loose his own creations on the DS theme. We also zoom in on the production data. And of course the story is accompanied by the necessary photos by Bart Spijker.
This, and much more, is again every reason for enthusiasts to get the magazine. It is again full of surprising news, backgrounds, reports, trade offers, the regular columns and for example two stories about a Suzuki: the LJ 80 (car) and the GSX-R750 (motorcycle). No, we are not called Auto Motor Klassiek. And a BMW Baur TC1? You don't see one very often, let alone in public. This and much more will undoubtedly be a great reason for you to feed your love of classic cars. The 116-page new edition of the magazine is available in stores from today.

If you know that in 1955 the DS was launched together with the Traction Avant in the Citroën showroom new for sale,
then the contrast between old and futuristic new could hardly be greater.
