Class of 62: Lotus Elan
The first time I saw a Lotus Elan was on the TV. The older readers can still remember the English TV series "the Avengers". The English name for the series was "the Avengers". In that series John Steed drove around with a Bentley but the handsome Emma Peel was driving a Lotus Elan.
Emma Peel was played by Dianna Rigg. Diana later starred in the James Bond film entitled On Her Majesty's Secret Service. There she plays the role of Baroness Theresa, aka Tracy and she even becomes Mrs. Bond because she marries the secret agent. Unfortunately, a little later she unfortunately comes to an end. The Elan also turned fifty this year, just like the other cars mentioned in the articles about the class of 62. The Elan was a success model for the English Lotus. The Lotus brand is celebrating its 29th anniversary this year. Much attention will be paid to this during the next edition of the Festival of Speed.
