The prestigious Concours d'Elegance is back on the calendar after three years. From Friday 26 August to Sunday 28 August, the gardens of Soestdijk Palace are all about beautiful heritage, the modern present and the promising future. The event, which for years was held at Paleis Het Loo, will be organized for the second time at Paleis Soestdijk.
The past, present and future of the car play an important role this year. Rare and exclusive heritage has become a trademark of the chic event over the years. The old-timers will be divided into ten classes this year. A renowned expert jury will select a winner for each class. And from these winners, 'the Best of Show' is traditionally chosen.
Rare Classics to the Palace Gardens
Naturally, the organization will also be bringing extremely rare classics to the palace gardens for the 2022 edition. For example, the Louwman Museum makes Prince Bernhard's Ferrari 500 Superfast Speziale available. The Italian exotic returns to the prince's former residence. The Ferrari is not the only car of Prince Bernhard that the public can admire. Three of the Prince's Bentleys will also be coming to Soestdijk Palace. Two of these will be made available by Bloemendaal Classics, the third will be brought to the palace gardens by the Hague firm Roos. Furthermore, the arrival of fourteen Veritas copies is special. The collection includes the Veritas RS with which Karl Kling won Hockenheim in 1946. Veritas was actually responsible for the restart of German motorsport after the Second World War.
Present and future highlighted
There is much more on the program at Soestdijk Palace this coming weekend. Various clubs take the most beautiful classics with them. But not only the exclusive past is honored. During the Concours d'Elegance, the organization also pays a lot of attention to the development of the car over the years. This is symbolized, among other things, by the presence of Honda, which exhibits the complete historic line-up of the Civic. And completely in line with tradition, several brands make their appearance. For example, Alpine will again be represented with a beautiful arrangement, which represents the past and the present. In addition to the present, the organization also reflects on the design future of the car and the perspective of conventional and new techniques.
Many traditional program components
The past, present and future form the heart of the programme, which also has a number of fixed values. So you can witness the Pre War Sprint again. There are also fashion shows where the latest clothing items are displayed, a Royal Fair where art, clothing or other beautiful products can be bought, a book market to browse around and a Pedal Car Race for the children. In addition, BNR will be present on Friday 26 August. The news channel then provides the live broadcasts of the National Auto Show (Meindert Schut and Wouter Karssen) and the Friday Move (Wilfred Genee). And last but not least: the catering industry is again amply represented. You can go to countless food trucks and fixed catering outlets to take care of the inner person.
More information about the program and the entrance fees
The Competition is back at Soestdijk Palace. As usual, it promises to be a wonderful event where you can immerse yourself in a special atmosphere of exclusivity, rarity and royal splendor. More information about the event, the prizes and the program can be found on the website of the event.
I've been to Het Loo several times and those were nice meetings, I'm sure it will be the same here. But come on say €27,50 for a ticket. Is that to keep the mob out of the gates?
27,50 is indeed far over, especially at a time when many people have to make ends meet.
For me, an exaggerated ticket price is basically a reason to skip this event.
there are also plenty of free old-timer alternatives in the country that weekend.
I also saw the prices, 27,50 entrance fee and 12,50 parking fee. cuckoo. Gone mad.
Never mind, I used to go there often but I skip this one and the next one right away.
I'll look for it elsewhere. Enough other fun oldtimer events. Ruinerwold was great for example!
Beautiful images and I wish everyone their pleasure. It's too royal for me. I'd rather go to a French meeting about scrap iron and joie de vivre.
We (father and I) used to stand just in front of the entrance at Het Loo in the morning. Then you see and hear the cars driving, much more beautiful.
Gossie Peter, I read that there are now food trucks, you no longer have to eat out of your nose.
The toys of the scoundrel of Orange, I also laughed a lot about being Niels
message. There weren't always wheels underneath.
Let's embrace the event, it could well be the last time.
Greetings to everyone,
Bass.
A few years ago I was also once at the Lo with a classic car club.
You had to be present on Saturday well before opening time, and you could not leave until well after closing time on Sunday.
After walking around for about 3 hours on Saturday morning, you've seen everything and you've finished talking. Then eat from your nose for almost 2 full days.
I've never been so bored on a weekend as I was then, just for the fun of others.
Since then I've kept it to a short visit on occasions like this.
Der Prinz was able to indulge in exotic toys to his heart's content as compensation for Juultje's partnership.
And that exotic toys didn't always have wheels, it only came to light much later 😉 😉
Do I have a dirty mind or are you just like Niels?
Not much later, it was already known. Also during the war it was well known that Bernard was looking for his 'comfort' elsewhere while Juliana was in Canada. In London he knew his way around and he even came for tea with a Zorreguita family in Argentina. Even then. His misadventures were partly the reason for his wife's less steadfastness, which resulted in the Hofman affair.
Compensation? He ended up in one of the richest families in Europe/world while his own family was virtually bankrupt. That should have been enough compensation for this gentleman with a dubious background.
