Classic Motorcycle & Moped Show 2026
On Saturday, March 7th and Sunday, March 8th, Sportcentrum Leek will be the center of attention for the 11th Classic Motorcycle & Moped Show. What once began as a regional show has grown into a regular fixture for enthusiasts from the north of the Netherlands and far beyond. According to the organizers, a significant number of participants have already registered for this eleventh edition, and that promises to be a promising event.
Anyone who's been there before knows what it feels like to walk into the hall. No slick show, just rows of motorcycles still bearing the marks of wear. Men and women chatting about carburetors with gleaming eyes. Bags full of parts under the table, that one gear you've been searching for years. The Leek show has a raw, no-nonsense quality. No over-the-top showmanship here, just steel, oil, and stories.
For 2026, the organizers are once again showcasing a wide range of clubs. The Classic Japanese Motorcycle Club, the Veteran Motorcycle Club with machines from the early 20th century, the Norton Club Netherlands, and the Honda Club will be back. The Sparta Moped Club and the Stichting Classic 50cc Grass Track Team will also be bringing their machines. New this year include the Classic Endur Group, the BMW Mono Club, and the Dispatch Riders Groningen. The latter alone conjures up images of leather jackets, water bottles, and military precision.
What makes Leek so strong is the mix. You walk from a pre-war single-cylinder with open valves to a row of Kreidlers and Honda mopeds from the seventies. There are collections you normally only see in sheds where daylight rarely shines. Racing motorcycles, classics from the nineties that are now heritage in their own right, and here and there a machine that's still ridden weekly. No static museum pieces, but motorcycles with a story.
Previous editions were praised for their friendly atmosphere and packed halls. Regional media described it as a fair where trade and hobby are in perfect harmony. No flashy booths, but vendors who know what they're offering. You'll recognize that immediately. A box of Amal carburetors isn't just for show; it's meant to be used. This year, too, there are numerous booths featuring parts, accessories, tools, documentation, and miniatures. For those who are into restoration or simply enjoy browsing, this is the kind of fair where you can easily lose hours without realizing it.
What always lingers is the sound. Not of revving engines, because it's still an indoor show, but of conversations. Discussions about original paint, the difference between an early and a late model, and whether to preserve or restore a motorcycle. It's a meeting place. Old acquaintances shake hands, and new enthusiasts are readily included in the conversation.
The fact that the event now fills two halls speaks volumes. From the entrance to the back wall, it's packed with motorcycles, mopeds, and everything related. And yes, there are also machines for sale. Sometimes with a cardboard sign on the handlebars, sometimes with a subtle note on the tank. Those who bring a trailer usually do so for good reason.
The eleventh edition feels like confirmation that classic motoring is alive and well. In an age where everything has to be digital and silent, Leek offers space for mechanics that are still tangible. For tinkering with dirty hands. For technology you can understand. That's what makes a weekend like this so valuable. Not just for buying or selling, but to remember why we started this in the first place.
The Classic Motorcycle & Moped Show will take place on Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Leek Sports Center, De Schelp 35 in Leek. Admission is €9 per person, children under 13 are free, and parking is also free. More information is available at www.classicmotor-bromfietsbeurs.nl
