The Oldtimerdag Zoetermeer will take place this year for the 17e time. Every year the organization devises a special theme. The subject of "Uit in Nederland in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s" is the focus of the 20 May edition. In addition, an old-timer tour will be organized, and at the end of the day the concours d'elegance will be held in the Dorpsstraat.
Every year the organization in Zoetermeer comes up with a new theme to give color to the vintage car day. During previous editions, a European country was always central, or a specific body or transport form. And in 2011, those responsible paid attention to the 125 anniversary of Mercedes-Benz. For this year it has been decided to revive daytime recreation from earlier times.
Out in the Netherlands in earlier years
The theme 'Out in the Netherlands in the 40, 50 and 60er years' is accompanied by recreational vehicles from these decades. They receive special attention and are arranged centrally in the Dorpsstraat, after they may have participated in the tour ride. A large part of the Pilate dam will be set up as a theme square. In the style of the fifties, for example, a camping site is created that revives recreation from the past.
Tour ride
The tour ride is a happening every year, which is plotted in the Groene Hart and has the necessary assignments and questions. The tour ride will cover approximately 100 kilometers and will merge nicely into the final part of the Oldtimday: the concours d'elegance.
Concours d'elegance
At the end of the tour, all cars are lined up in the village state for the concours d'elegance. A professional jury will judge the different cars. This also takes into account the state of maintenance, exclusivity and creativity of the driver and any guests. Think of authentic clothing or accessories from that time. The public present can also vote for their favorite model. Incidentally, classics can also participate that are not used for the tour ride. The oldtimers are judged in different classes.
