He turned the world upside down in 1969. The Fiat 128 was successful from the start and offered room for further development of the model range. Moreover, Fiat was already active in rally sport shortly after the launch of the model. In addition, the Italians also wanted to participate in the class up to 128 cc with the 1300. The new engine of the 128 was therefore joined by the 1290 cc engine. This power source made its debut in the Fiat 128 rally, which saw the light of day in 1971.

The history is described in detail in the report about the 128 rally, in which Eric Blok's copy is central. The North Hollander owns several classics, but his Fiat sprayed in Arancio Rosso has a special place. The 128 in this version was also one of the family cars during Eric's youth. These memories not only led to the wish, but also to the purchase of the report Fiat.

The story does not only deal with Eric's 128 rally. The origin and model history of this model are also given ample space in the current AMK edition. This also applies to the role that Fiat played in the compact sports class during the first half of the seventies. The sporty sisters and brothers of the 128 rally are therefore also given attention in the story. This also applies to the competitive playing field in which the striking Fiat operated at the time.

Of course - as you are used to - we pay attention to the driving characteristics of Eric's car, which has been modified to his own taste but still shows a lot of evidence of originality. What we can already reveal is that this car puts a big smile on your face, and takes you back to the period in which you could also comfortably let the 128 rally out on 'unpaved'. Technical data is also not lacking, as well as beautiful material from photographer Bart Spijker.

The 128 was a willing prey for coachbuilders and the specialized Italian tuning companies. Because the 128 rally formed the basis for Giannini from Rome, you can also read a description of these modified models. Finally, the editor also pays a lot of attention in the In-depth Column to his history of the 128, and the fulfillment of a deeply cherished wish.

This month you will read - as you are used to from us - much more beautiful stuff. Reports on various different cars and motorcycles, all with their own eventful and beautiful history, give a beautiful picture. The usual regular columns, the advertisements of our partners and many other short and long messages are also discussed. And of course the section with offered classics is richly filled again.
