The Ford Fiesta: Ford's savior in dark days
Sometimes it has to go bad because otherwise it cannot get better. But the Ford Fiesta is very on time. And that while Henry Ford II had nothing to do with small cars.
The consortium stepped in with the Fiesta in a market where there were already such 30 competitors. Was that stupid, brave or just an emergency leap?
It turned out to be a success anyway. The first prototype was the Bobcat. Use was made of the suspension and drive of Fiat's 127.
But then the Fiesta became more than what Ford had hoped for.
A lot of Fiesta's have been made. A lot of them died too.
In the August issue of AMK you will find the story about the king of the compacts: the Ford Fiesta.
And the fact that the name Fiesta was actually claimed by Oldsmobile?
That was neatly solved. More about this number via amklassiek.nl/magazine/deze-maand/auto-motor-klassiek-augustus-2016/
