Nissan Pao

No Figaro but a Pao

There is on the website of Auto Motor Klassiek and written several times in the magazine about the funny little car that listens to the name “Figaro”.

When I saw the cart for the first time at one of our overnight hotels, I was also very impressed by the nice design. The Nissan looks old but it has modern technology under the hood. They are equipped with an automatic gearbox and I have not seen one that is not finished in the light green color with a white roof. By the way, that roof is foldable and then disappears into the trunk. The cart was built in 1989. When I found a station version in a parking lot near a supermarket, which looked a lot like the Figaro, I could of course not resist taking some pictures for the readers.

However, this is not a Figaro but a Pao. It is the predecessor of the Figaro and it is produced in 1987. They were available with or without a large open roof. It is a typical English accessory.

In the past, this type of roof was installed in all kinds of cars. The English call it full length sunroof and they were often from the Britax brand.
