De Phantom Corsair from 1938 was a prototype that failed in the real world. The six-person coupee was designed by Rust Heinz (of the tomato ketchup dynasty) and Maurice Schwartz of the Bohman & Schwartz coachbuilding company.

Technically, the Corsair was largely based on the Cord 810 with its 190 hp V8 and front-wheel drive. And it was packed with gadgets that are so normal in the absolute top class in 2014. The car was too far ahead of its time and its planned price was far too high.

But Heinz 'death after a car accident in 1939 was even more definitive
