When a car with great historical significance celebrates its anniversary, we like to take a moment to reflect. In the latest AMK edition, two jubilees are in the spotlight. One of the two is the Ford Mustang. The American manufacturer launched The Pony Car sixty years ago. Auto Motor Klassiek This month we focus on the first two series of the Mustang I. The main character in the report is the classic car of Sietse and Marianne Hansma.
When Ford developed the car, they could never have predicted how immensely popular the first series of the Mustang would become. The Ford was announced as The Unexpected, and this nickname would acquire multiple meanings. One of the conditions for its later success was that the Mustang could be personalized from the start. In the report we will of course describe how the buyer could do that, with which packages and which developments Ford implemented to keep the extensive option possibilities up to date.
But we describe much more. Of course, the development history of the Mustang (1964 to 1968) is discussed. An important aspect is how Ford responded to competitive perspectives and developments outside the door. The battle between the big three was a beautiful and fascinating one, and in technical terms it definitely had its influence. Furthermore, we briefly discuss the Shelby saga. The film debut of the Mustang. The engine developments and delivery possibilities. The aforementioned is just a selection of what we tell you about the Mustang I (series 1 and 2).
Of course, we will also take you on a trip we made with Sietse and Marianne's 1967 Ford Mustang. And that is an exceptionally fine version (with one of the 4.7 V8 engines), with a wonderfully personalized character. We can already tell you: being on the road with the Mustang is a beautiful and special experience. You are on the road in a real icon from automotive history. We devoted eight pages to the jubilarian, and it was a pleasure to drive the car and to write about the first two series of the Mustang I.
Of course, you will also find other stories about special classic cars and motorcycles in the latest issue. Columns, news reports, classic car offers and of course the contributions of our advertisers are other permanent and familiar values in our magazine, which has much more to offer than we describe now. AMK 1-2025 is now available at the kiosk. And the preview can be found here. Don't have this yet? Buy the magazine and immerse yourself in many more than a hundred pages of pure classic car fun.
We wish you a nice weekend!
One of the most beautiful Fords ever built.
Price was very competitive, quality however never. Too thin metal etc. With other brakes and chassis, (front axle about 7000us), something good can be made of it
