Purchasing classics there

Are you able to see a beautiful English classic in this? Tean can do this, this Ford Prefect will travel the road to a perfect performance through a complete restoration. The donor car is already here, it is now a matter of finding the missing parts. (And put a lot of time and energy into it.)

By: Dirk de Jong

As a young entrepreneur (22 years old), his thoughts do not go back to the fifties, but his father is a mentor in his newly established garage company Skoor Cars in Burgum and he can do it. For him, the Ford Prefect is the first restoration project in addition to his normal work such as maintenance of the modern sacred cows. His best stimulus in this work is the prospect of this Ford Prefect getting a new lease of life. Beautiful to look at and of course to drive. It doesn't have to be better than new for him, as long as the result is good.

What's so great about a classic car?

Tean: “Despite being young, I've always had a fascination with these models from the fifties. I think this Ford Prefect is a status car with that high grille and round headlights. I see it as a challenge, I want to achieve something. It may be laborious work, but it will also be satisfying. A feeling that many old-timer and classic owners know. It doesn't happen automatically, we may even have to copy parts, or let the English Ford club assist us. One thing is certain; I want to give him back his dignity and status.”

The original license plate is still visible, but no longer where the Ford Prefect left its mark. Tean found it as a stranded project and therefore not in drivable condition. Fortunately, the car was not completely disassembled so that no significant investment has to be made first. The body is fairly complete, so it can be removed from the chassis and the restoration can begin from the chassis.

Pure enthusiasm

Tean (pronounced tee-an) is captivated by his first business project. Privately, he had already taken care of his Opel C Kadett and, in addition to the bodywork, also built in an engine from an Opel Calibra for the extra power. We can appreciate a young enthusiastic entrepreneur who has an above-average interest in classics. A good sign for the future where he can transfer that enthusiasm to his own generation. And for the classic world that is a win!

  1. I Ton Rossewij indicates at the trade school in Utrecht I had a teacher he always talks about his Ford prefect good teacher who has motor knowledge cool etc nice experience with this 60 years

  2. It never ceases to amaze me that a thorough restoration of cars from the 90s - 2000s is often much more problematic, if not impossible, than a pre-1960s car.
The relative simplicity and the not yet just-in-time spare parts mentality make restoring a very old car a pleasant hobby.
(I have thoroughly refreshed 15 3s cars myself in the past 50 years and got to know many interesting people as a result)
Such a Ford Prefect therefore has the design that belongs to a real old-timer. Glad it was saved from destruction.
    Good luck with the restoration!
