Purchasing classics there

Mercedes Benz has a special reputation to uphold when it comes to building seasoned cars. Over the years, this status also led to a number of prominent owners. In the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart, those responsible devote a real exhibition to cars from impressive history, which belonged to special owners. This one Gallery of Names, also known as Collection 4, may recently count a few new ones.

Because this permanent exhibition has recently been renewed. Collection 4 in Stuttgart, for example, offers visitors the opportunity to come face to face with the Mercedes Benz 190 E 2.3 from actor Nicolas Cage. He bought this 190, one of the last from Baureihe W201, in 1993. This Benz is still in its original state and is equipped with an AMG package and the original Mercedes Benz radio / cassette player.

190 SL from Randolph Scott

The Mercedes Benz 190 SL from NASA astronaut Randolph Scott is also part of the collection. This roadster is in unrestored condition. The man, who was the seventh person in history to set foot on the moon, bought this car on 2 March 1959. He held it in his possession until August 2004.

G-Class with 897.000 kilometers

Another special example in Stuttgart: the Mercedes Benz 300 GD from Gunther Holtorf. The German rode his Geländewagen for 897.000 kilometers for expedition purposes, spread over 215 countries. In addition, "Otto" took 26 years to reach this milestone. Furthermore, more modern material complements the exhibition. A Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG from football player Lukas Podolski- recently stopped as an international and a special CLA complete the number of newcomers. Some historical pieces had to give way to that. For example, we mention the 190 2.3 AMG from Ringo Starr and an 190 SL. The Mercedes Benz 320 ML, which played a role in Jurassic Park, has also been replaced. These cars are used for other purposes.

Historically justified

What remains on the exhibition is, however, historically justified. In addition to the newcomers, Collection 4 also includes the coach of the German national football team that won the world title in 1974 at the expense of Orange (au!) This O 302 is the largest object. He is also part of a longer existing one Collection 4 Benzen collection that also had special owners. The G-class of Pope John Paul the Second, the Benz of Lady Diana and the Daimler of the Sultan of Morocco (from 1892!) Are just a selection of this impressive exhibition.
