When you soon get your classic out of the winter storage makes it after a few months driving cancellation in connection with the lavishly sprinkled brine, it may be that your car is going to be in a terrible state. That's because today's gasoline, thanks to the added five and soon ten percent biofuel that is known as ethanolis hygroscopic. Attracts 'water' from the environment. That 'water' is heavier than the rest of the fuel and therefore drops to the bottom of the tank. And is it first sucked, fed to the carburetor (s) or injection and that's why the engine runs so bad ... How do you solve that? Draining is not an option, because then you are stuck with a splash of unusable gasoline? Engine so good and so bad when it starts to warm up. You do not do that 'warming up' in an enclosed space! You can keep the engine working, but then take a ride in the area where the speed must be taken into account. Until the tank is (almost) empty. Then refuel with fresh fire water and hope that the problem is solved with that ... Handy to know if you will soon be pulling your car out again for the first sunny ride.
Comment deleted? What does that mean now?
What reaction was that then, Ron?

Except that the German aral ultimate 102 contains no ethanol and is therefore not hygroscopic.
Water in the gasoline after storage, I started my Pontiac last year after 4 years of standstill without any problem yesterday with another after 2 years. cars from 92 and 95, so will also be system sensitive.
Regarding the Ultimate powers ed just higher octane with other additive not so super special. I have worked for years on petrol diesel LPG terminal for loading petrol stations. All Euro petrol comes from the same tank, only different additive per company.
Or you fill up before you put it away just petrol without ethanol, such as aral ultimate 102
You better empty the tank before putting it away and then put a few liters of Aspen gasoline in it. That is super pure gasoline that does not get old. Usually used in the mix lubrication variant for chainsaws because they are very sensitive, but you also have Aspen as normal gasoline. Not cheap, but good.
A little bit at Ollie also works!
It is strange that you can no longer find anything in your magazine about the injustice done to us by the scum in The Hague. That I can no longer put my beautiful MB 240D on the paving stones and it has become too expensive in the MRB! I have a V70 D where I pay the absurd amount of 1700 euros per year. There would then be another 1300 euros because I want to use the car freely as for this ridiculous rule! 3000 euros for two cars per year without having driven a meter. Then come the excise duties and on top of that the VAT. Absurd and pure theft. But you seem to think that's normal!
In the background, of course, we are still working on the support of vrijstellingoldtimer.nl and on the AMK website we keep people constantly informed when there is something new to report. We also regularly write about it in AMK itself.
Throw in a bottle of methylated spirits. This mixes with the water and with the petrol, then it distributes better and the engine also keeps running nicer.
