Goliath GD 750 (1954) Exceptional beauty for Klaas
An article about a piece of German transport history: a three-wheeled delivery van that was popular in the post-war years. A vehicle with a strong reputation, maneuverable in the city and nowadays a rare eye-catcher in the classic car world. A showpiece for collectors and enthusiasts of classic engineering. It was the workhorse and favorite vehicle of traders and small business owners during the reconstruction of the 1950s. The Goliath GD 750 was built by Goliath in Bremen, within the Borgward group, and grew into a familiar sight on the streets of the Wirtschaftswunder.
Every car has its own story.
Klaas: “To me, this Goliath is small, charming, and historic, but also captivating and endearing. I inherited this timeless charm from HG Kuiken, a garage in Leeuwarden that had a beautiful collection of classic cars that still had real character. The mechanics at the garage were highly skilled in bodywork and mechanics. Thanks to their extensive knowledge of classic cars, special vehicles could be restored to a condition as if they had just rolled out of the factory. It was a high-quality restoration. According to information, this Goliath is the only one with a Dutch license plate.”
Entrepreneur in metalworking
Klaas: “Due to the busy daily life, there isn't much time left to participate in rallies or classic car events. Perhaps the hobby is still just as enjoyable when you don't have enough time for it. Owner pride also plays a role; cars you are attached to are also part of your leisure time.”
Purely for pleasure
Klaas: “It is wonderful that the classic car is being put in the spotlight by AMK and is receiving attention as a result. That makes you happy, especially when they are in rare original condition. It transports you back to a time when you were still truly involved in driving. Meetings with other enthusiasts are the perfect opportunity to experience a sense of togetherness and to radiate it as well.” Plenty to talk about.
A glimpse into the happiness zone
A glance into Klaas's warehouse reveals a magnificent collection, a diverse array of automobiles that makes your mouth water. For instance, a 1953 Lancia Ardea stands gleaming, a compact Italian classic, full of character and packed with authentic details. Citroën 2CV, the ugly duckling with the ribbed hood, and an impeccable Citroën His son-in-law's U23 truck has also found a place there. Classic cars that each deserve attention in Auto Motor Klassiek, the trendsetter of classic cars in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Yes, it was reported in 1956. The “Lumpen-Sammler” der regularly in our village, after all, I would like to have a village holiday with it. That is what I am passionate about.
Yes, lovely nostalgia, a Goliath like that! Back in the 50s, there were also these three-wheelers from the brand Tempo. As a child in the 50s, I was already crazy about them. The ragman and the kerosene man had one. The sound is beautiful to hear. Because of that special sputtering sound, I called them 'Lukker cars'. I once saw that green one with the Dutch license plate at the National Two-Stroke Day.
I'm not sure if this Goliath is the only one in the Netherlands. I saw one in the wild a few years ago when a student was being transported to a gala in it. That was a green one, as far as I remember. I even thought it had a Dutch license plate. But anyway, it's been a while.
