A successful first edition of the Good Vibrations Event

By: the editors • photography: Thomas Touw

Thomas Touw was recently at AMK at the Good Vibrations event. Naturally armed with a camera and a good mood. You have to be careful.

A Alfa Giulia 1300 from 1967 stands brotherly next to a huge Jeep Wagoneer from the 70s. A little further on is a blue one Citroen 2CV6 next to a huge blue Chevrolet Malibu from 1970. In addition to the fact that they share their color, they also have a very important common denominator; they both have an owner with a heart for old-timers.

On the day of Pentecost, more than 600 owners of vintage cars came together on the Maxis site in Muiden for the first edition of Good Vibrations. It was once established as a positive protest against the lifting of the exemption from motor vehicle tax for traditional transport. But now Good Vibrations wants to bring that passion and the often online contacts between the owners to life. Of course the conversation of the day was the MRB plan of the current cabinet. The purpose of the meeting was to show how much fun it is to own an oldtimer and to drive it.

According to organizer Maria Pels, that was a great success: “It is wonderful to see so many different brands mixed up. It doesn't matter what type of classic car brand you drive, the passion and love are the same for every owner. It is nice to see that a tiny Trabant is parked next to my huge American sloop. It is even more fun to get into conversation with the owner of another old-timer and discover how another enthusiast treats his or her hobby. Good Vibrations is worth repeating. The responses were therefore very positive. "
