Purchasing classics there

On Sunday 2 September, the RijdendMotorsportMuseum and Piet Ottosen organized demo competitions with historic motorcycles in Harlingen. From August 29, however, the drivers could already go to the paddock, so the most beautiful historic two-wheelers had come and gone for a few days. A real party, as it used to be in racing. In the morning we had a nice breakfast together, in the evening in a warehouse, while enjoying a snack and a drink, there was a lot of talk about the upcoming demo, engines, and what else was on the table.

Sunday, early in the morning, the cyclists' quarter was completely filled with racers from the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Sweden and England. An international company. After the driver's discussion, the men and women could prepare themselves for the training. It took some getting used to, because the circuit was slightly changed compared to last year. The participants all agreed after the training; the circuit looked great. Nice smooth asphalt, long stretches and wonderful curves.

At 13.00 the deputy mayor opened the races and wished both the drivers and the public a very nice and good demo. The masses of visitors flocked to enjoy the sound of the engines,

and the smell of oil and gasoline. The howling sound of the 50cc, formerly called the shot glass class, to the loudly roaring engines in the heavier classes. You saw many spectators in the audience standing with their hands to their ears. The Kreidler Cup Race Team is in a class of its own. Many people in the audience recognized the Kreidlers from the past. You heard them say: "My dad / grandpa used to have that too, or I picked up my girlfriend from home."
The Sport class is always a feast for the eyes with a sound that you say to yourself. The spectators almost hung over the crush barriers to see the engines especially well. Finally, of course, the flying carpets, which made it into a true happening. The audience thanked all participants after the demo with a loud applause.

The prize winners did not only go home with a cup, but also with a well-filled bag, presented by Piet Ottosen.
A fantastic demo race day, with good weather, top atmosphere, and combative yet fair driven demos in all classes.
Both the public and all riders agreed, we are happy to return next year at the Oostpoort Industrial Park in Harlingen.
