At the Citroën DS became clear that it was not always necessary to use conventional suspension
At the introduction of the Citroën DS at the Paris Motor Show in 1955 it became clear that the suspension of an automobile did not necessarily have to make use of steel screw or leaf springs, or torsion bars…

Although this system is currently only used by this French car manufacturer, other manufacturers have looked closely at it. Edition car manufacturer Rolls-Royce copied the system for their coaches and that says something. Air and fluid suspension is nowadays also used in the heavy truck industry, but also in various modern top cars.
