A parts day at Jaguar and nice weather. A great opportunity to spot old Jaguars and to find that one part that you were latently looking for. The parts day of the Jaguar Daimler club Holland now takes place traditionally in Druten. Last Sunday, members and enthusiasts from far and wide came to this scenic town in Brabant.
Inside, attention was paid to the 20 anniversary of the Jaguar XK 8. A car of which the former TopGear presenter once said that this was the car he wanted to drive until the oil stocks were dried up. A nice compliment. In addition to a few XK8s, also E-types, an XJ-S and an MK VI saloon in top condition.
The members sniffed among all kinds of parts, including quite a few electrical parts of the famous Lucas brand. At the time as a brand because of the suboptimal reliability called the 'Prince of Darkness'. Catching up on the latest club news and exchanging tips on resolving technical malfunctions were possible with a cup of coffee or drink. One owner sold all his cars, he said, because he had just bought an 22 meter long seaworthy yacht. You usually hear the opposite; that someone sells his boat. Besides time to catch up there was time for jazz music, after all we are at the Jaguar club.
At the end of the day there were satisfied sellers and satisfied buyers, who all returned home in the evening sun. What does a man want more?
