Automatic concepts

The 2008 Jaguar XKR Coupé is a symbol of refined British elegance, combined with modern technology and unparalleled performance. For Jaap, this car is much more than just a means of transport: it is a machine that evokes emotions, a source of joy and a means of exploring boundaries – in a responsible way, of course. His enthusiasm for this Jaguar is difficult to capture in words. It is visible, tangible and above all infectious, as if the car itself is a source of energy.

The British Chic

There are few cars that can match the exclusivity of the Jaguar XKR equal. This coupe combines advanced engineering with tasteful styling and an impressive luxury package. The interior features soft leather seats, high-quality wood veneers and advanced technology, including a Bowers & Wilkins audio system. The design of the aluminium body, co-created by Jaguar's renowned designer Ian Callum, exudes timeless elegance and sportiness.

Under the bonnet is a 4.2-litre V8 engine with a supercharger, good for 416 hp and 560 Nm of torque. This power allows the car to accelerate from 5,2 to 0 km/h in just 100 seconds. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h. This performance is combined with the comfort-oriented features that are typical of Jaguar: a smooth automatic transmission and the CATS system (Computer Active Technology Suspension), which ensures optimum stability and driving comfort.

The XKR is not an ostentatious status symbol, but a “driver’s car” in the purest sense. It is designed for people who value not only luxury, but also the thrill of driving.

Human qualities?

You would almost think that the Jaguar XKR human qualities. The way it responds to the accelerator pedal, with precision and power, makes driving a conversation between driver and machine. Whether you are on the road for business appointments or taking a relaxing drive in your free time, every kilometre in this car feels like a pleasure.

Jaap shares not only his love for driving, but also his passion for the technology behind the car. “I do everything myself,” he says proudly. This hands-on approach reflects his dedication and perseverance, qualities he applies not only to his cars, but also to his life.

The tire tracks left in Japan

Jaap has a preference for special cars with low mileage and a proven service history. That is exactly why his XKR comes from Japan. Cars from this country are known for their excellent condition, partly due to the mild climate and the exceptionally good care that owners take of them.

Jaap's XKR is no exception: even the underside is immaculate, a testament to the careful treatment this car has received. With just a few minor adjustments it has been brought into perfect condition. It is therefore no surprise that this richly equipped Jaguar has been considered a classic from day one. For now we will still call it a youngtimer, but his status as a timeless icon is unavoidable.

Mechanical masterpieces

Jaap not only has his XKR in his collection, but also a number of classic cars that he cherishes as true works of art. “I love mechanical masterpieces from the past,” he says. His collection consists of cars that are not only technically impressive, but also have emotional value. “My friends and my son share my passion,” Jaap says. “Every car in my collection is an object of love, a symbiosis of technology and emotion.”

  1. @Anonymous: In Japan, a left-hand drive car is a status symbol. Many BMWs and Mercedes are also brought here from Japan, usually also with left-hand drive.

Beautiful car, in twenty years this will be a classic. Personally I find the taillights a bit too much but as soon as the engine starts, the attention shifts to that beautiful roar.

  2. quote: “This youngtimer has everything it takes to become a timeless classic.”
Except for the parts supply, now and certainly in 10 years or more, that will be a huge challenge given the complexity of this car. Apart from that now and in the future, just find a specialist who can fix/repair future malfunctions.
A beautiful and very rare model.

  3. the model before this was much more authentic and beautiful, more Jaguar. Certainly the Last Edition version 2006, with + 50 hp, and 20″ BBs, recaro seats.
    Should have never sold it!

    • Beautiful car (!!!) and parts will certainly be a challenge as Peter rightly noted. You bet. However, I read from 2008. Is that already classic? If so, then both my motorcycles are really prehistoric.
