Jawa riders of all countries ... Unite! Well: put it in the agenda. In a while, on 2-5 June 2017, there will be the International Jawa Rally.
It is organized by the Jawa-CZ club Netherlands, and it is a very mature event with everything on it.
Jawa was once a global brand and in the sixties the Jawa 250 cc two-stroke single-cylinder were completely up to date and you were a big guy on an 350 cc twin. Jawa has scored at the highest levels in all sports. The rare and sought-after 500 cc Jawa OHC was a technical feat. A highlight with a fantastic engine sound, by the way.
After the early years of 70, recreational motorcycling in the west began to show how handicapped the Czech Jawamakers were because of their political system. The technicians could do anything, but were not allowed to ... Jawa lost his reputation. The developments behind the Iron Curtain focused exclusively on transport for the masses. And then the higher segment of that mass.
Jawas - whether new or used - lost everything but a symbolic value here. In fact, nobody wanted to be so slow, smoky and "Reflective 'thing to be seen.
Well: apart from a few enthusiasts. And those enthusiasts stood at the cradles of the various international Jawa clubs.

A good Jawa is dated but quite reliable. the parts position is good and the parts are affordable. And the purchase of such a piece of former Eastern European heritage even seems to be a responsible investment.
