In the British town of Kidlington we arrived at the right place at the right time. A certain David Scott had just pushed his unfinished piece of work out of his wet shed to take pictures. A MG Midget from 1965 that was equipped with Lenham bodywork.
Such a 'kit' is still available today and is called 'Le Mans Coupe' by the producer. It concerns the roof and the entire rear section. Simply put, order, pay a few hundred pounds sterling, pick up - with a 'nice' van, because after all it is almost a 'half car' - and then it becomes a matter of sawing, fitting, measuring and pasting. An additional investment yields a streamlined hood, making the MG Midget (or Austin-Healey Sprite) look like a kind of 'baby (Ferrari) GTO'. Unfortunately, this item had to do without that part. With an asking price of £ 5.000 this was a not-so-wrong investment, especially since the car was completely and technically as well as the sheet metal completely overhauled, but also provided with a new interior ... Gives peace, not only we had noticed this 'photo session' , but also a next passer-by. And he bought it a few days later ... Missed opportunity?
