Mercedes-Benz L 306 D (1976). Safe transportation.

ER Classics Route 66 auction

Mercedes-Benz has been building automobiles for many years that meet the requirements in an excellent way. The purchase price is not always decisive, because in many cases important accessories such as safety have to play a major role without having to pay an additional price.

The requirements for this (Hanomag) Mercedes bus were higher to guarantee the safety of cash transport and drivers. He was therefore described as a company car: Special group. This money-truck from the Mercedes collection of the now 83-year-old R. Janssen is notable for its special design: separate doors, double-thick glass, super thick sheet steel to scare off people with less good intentions. The 44-year-old classic car has a low mileage and is 100 percent original and unrestored. He has a lot of drawers to store things, unfortunately the money boxes are missing and also the search for real Dutch guilders, dimes. quarters remained fruitless.

Beautiful possession

Not only beautiful but also exclusive, driving around in such a special version is fun and original. When was the last time you saw an armored bus at an event? Due to its heavy plating, the bus naturally became much heavier than the technical information indicated, and the price - after construction - was also close to doubling the normal purchase price. With this Mercedes, the owner makes an impression, visitors want to hear the story behind his special cars. And as a passionate lover of everything with the three-pointed star, he was happy to do so.

  1. When I was eighteen I did an internship in Germany for a year. The boss had such a bus, but a 206d. So a little less payload. Drove nicely, only at sharp corners understeer that suddenly turned into oversteer. It had a beautiful sticky wooden dashboard and the gear lever was to your right. The Mercedes diesel from the 220 accelerated from 0 to XNUMX in two years. Wonderful memory.

  2. Less than a year ago, a slightly younger model (than the Hanomag) of a money transport car was offered, which the seller considered suitable as a food truck (itch word)
I hope the car has been given a better use. Such cars are by definition already rare and the one I am referring to is still depicted somewhere in press photos because it was accompanied by a memorable fact.
In any case, the car was equipped with blue number plates, so it must already be quite old.
