The Mazda MX-5 has been a hit since the introduction in 1989. In April of 2016 the one millionth copy rolled off the band. The idiosyncratic sports car has meanwhile achieved the status of a classic, consists of tin and can rust. Because so many have been built, the prices - even for the first ones - are still low.

Owning such an Aston Martin on this planet is only reserved for four people, who are not only very privileged, but also have to have a huge amount of money at their disposal. Why should something like that stop you from having such an 'Aston Martin' in the stables yourself?

Construction

The Mazda MX-5 is at your disposal and the MEV Replicar. The latter is a sports car that was inspired by the Aston Martin DBR1 from 1959. The MEV Replicar is - at least according to the manufacturer and supplier - a homage to this famous Aston Martin. If you have purchased the kit, you also have a thoroughly rusted-in Mazda MX-5, you can go ahead. The MEV Replicar consists broadly of a tubular chassis and a thoroughly colored polyester body, complete with doors, bonnet and rear panels. Building this kit car requires no specialist skills or any welding on your part, just disassemble the Mazda MX-5. Help can be requested from the supplier or via the MEV Owners Forum. As a donor you can use the Mk1, Mk2 or Mk 2½, the 1,6 or 1,8 or the VVT ​​engine.

The problem may be that re-registration in the Netherlands will not succeed immediately. In such a case, you must go - with the ready-made car - to the supplier in Great Britain, who will then ensure that you receive a British registration based on the Dutch Mazda MX-5 registration certificate. You must then receive a Dutch registration number at the RDW ...
