MGB: BRX 854B
In 1964, BRX had David Ham and Juliën Vernaeve as crew in the Liege Sofia Liege
The new British auction house Historics at Brooklands set a new sales record on 2 June for an MG MGB from 1964: £ 141.922,00 plus commission from 10 percent of the final sale price. The British tax authorities also enjoy it, because the VAT of 17,5 percent is still added ... Do not run directly to your garage or shed in the hope that your MG parked therein will one day pay the same amount, because in this case it is the very last one former factory rally MGB: BRX 854B.

It is one of two specimens working in 1964 by Den Green and Knobbly Hall at the MG Comps, part of the Competition Department of the British Motor Corporation. The first performance was - with David Ham and Juliën Vernaeve (B) as crew - in the Liège-Sofia-Liège Rally. Unfortunately, the car fell out with gearbox problems. In November, BRX entered the RAC Rally with John Fitzpatrick and John Handley in action. Unfortunately, again not at the finish because of a problem with the cylinder head. The following year the car - now passed into private hands - appeared in the Tulip Rallye (canceled due to a collision), the Acropolis Rally (canceled to prevent even more damage to the engine), the Geneva Rally (had to give up due to time being exceeded) ), Castrol Danube (finally, 13e general and 3e in class) and the RAC Rally (failed due to problems with the front suspension). In 1966 there was a new owner who offered the famous, but also maligned MG a quiet old age. Many trips were made in Great Britain and Europe. On one of those trips, fate struck again in Scotland. A mechanical defect ensured that the car could not come home on its own, and ended up in a (heated) garage where it remained 32 for years. The previous owner restored this piece of British motorsport history with an eye for detail, leaving as much as possible undisturbed so as not to make it into a kind of replica. He succeeded. Just like its sister car, this MG consists of a tin monocoque with aluminum front and rear fenders, aluminum door plates, aluminum boot lid and - just like all regular production MGBs - an aluminum bonnet. The whole sprayed in the famous Tartan Red with white hardtop. Although this former factory car cannot immediately boast a successful history, it is of course something very special. That is why a British enthusiast (who will be racing with it!) Was willing to pay such a (high) price for it. High? We think you will experience that this MG will yield at least twice as much as ten years from now ...
