As it appears, the detailed Climate Agreement will soon be presented. It means that the driver then knows definitively to what extent he can contribute to the objective of achieving a significant CO2 saving. One thing is certain: polluting aviation remains largely unaffected, but it is the turn of the fossil fuel driver. The industry (including the RAI Association, the BOVAG and the ANWB) agrees in any case, the RAI Association reported very chivaliously via Twitter.

For months, the intended plans with regard to the budget attachment on an individual basis have been brought out very refined. In November 2017, it became clear that in the long term cars would no longer be sold on petrol, LPG and diesel. Subsequently, it was repeatedly stated that there would be a risk of a shortage of tax revenues if the target of achieving two million electric / emission-free cars was driven on the Dutch road in 2030. Furthermore, it was not surprising that the increases in excise duties on petrol and diesel were announced, instead of introducing discounts on clean fuels. And that, while it has long been shown that an electric car cannot be considered CO2 neutral.

Road pricing as a cover

In the meantime, the Calculation Driving symbolizes a so-called welles / nots game between celebrities who are going to determine what the motorist will soon lose in the Netherlands. It is a cover for the introduction of further fixed tax measures. The citizen may probably reschedule his or her monthly car budget. Individuals who own a car are the easiest to tax individually. The first excise tax increases have therefore already been announced.

MRB forecast: based on Euro standards and energy labels

The expectation is justified that Euronorm and energy labels will play a role in a possible MRB revision, for all fuel types. The lower the standard, the higher the label, the heavier the load. Diesel drivers receive the lion's share of the measures, especially the owners of older diesels. Another or additional scenario is formed by further excise tax increases. The zeal of those involved in promoting the EV is irrevocably accompanied by measures to the same effect, it is almost impossible.

Classics still out of reach

The question is then justified: how are the cars that were manufactured before the introduction of the Euronorm in 1992? That will be an exciting one, because these vehicles are already close to the classic status, or they have already achieved it. From a logical point of view, the rolling 30 year limit would finally be respected for all motor vehicles. But don't be surprised if it is decided at the mobility table that a maximum annual mileage is linked to this limit, in order to retain the tax benefit. Up to now the oldtimers and the youngtimers have not been included in the coverage. And inquiring learned that nothing is yet known about this theme.

EV is largely unpaid despite subsidies

The focus of the mobility table participants is at least on the EV sub-area and further emission reduction. Transcending action does not seem to occur in the dictionary of the table with only EV proponents. Proponents, because at the table of the Mobility Sector no room has been created for realistic feedback, the Haagse Lobby program reported. It is also remarkable that the parties at the table do not take a visible account of a fact that was calculated not so long ago: the Dutchman between 23 and 65 years has on average less than € 3.000 in reserves. In addition, 40% of Dutch households (NIBUD has investigated this) find it difficult to complete the monthly budget.

Extra subsidy in the future

Furthermore, more than one million Dutch people are facing serious payment difficulties, partly due to the evaporated purchasing power plates as a result of complex schemes and sharply increased costs. And yes, that does not only apply to lower incomes. The increase in Dutch costs is also starting to have consequences for households within the higher income category. And within that spectrum, countless citizens and businesses have to fade very deeply in order to pay the EV lobby towards the higher segment. They pay for the corresponding subsidies, which will only increase when it becomes clear that the majority of the EV is not reserved. Based on the objective of having two million electric cars on the road in 2030, this knowledge costs the owners of at least eight million fossil vehicles.

Industry already agrees

The goal must be achieved at all costs. The Mobility Sector puts everything aside for that. This will have an impact on car use, maintenance, sales margins and traffic. And on the budgets of many households. That is why hope is drawn to the trade associations, who can be expected to compete with an alternative that is attractive to all parties. But that hope is vain. The industry representatives already agree, according to the RAI Association. And the first measures have already been announced, but there is no question of further transparency. The definitive interpretation of the mobility section within the Dutch climate agreement is therefore for the Dutch motorist a trajectory that lies between hope and fear. That is harsh, certainly in the knowledge that sectors such as shipping and aviation are practically left out.

  1. Under the guise of "the great multinational creates jobs", this is completely spared.
But the climate plan is still a plan. It is not yet technically feasible because the EV is not yet ready. (Batteries, charging time, current capacity, number of poles to charge. Etc ... it is still in its infancy)
The green left think that it is of course possible, but they are not technicians. Unless a technical enovation takes place tomorrow, but it doesn't look like this for the time being.

    • Which interest groups for motorists and classic car enthusiasts have been involved in these discussions? Or did they sleep? If the climate agreement has been converted into legislation, we can no longer do anything about it! What can we do now? And people in the surrounding countries don't go so far!

  2. Many 'green' politicians believe that they themselves should be allowed to fly a few times a year, but old cars should be off the road.

Given the cheating affairs and cheating with consumption figures, they should gradually know that modern cars are not necessarily cleaner than older cars with a catalytic converter. Moreover, those oldies drive a lot less kilometers and I think that gives a much greater advantage for the air quality.

  3. I fully agree with Robert's story! About time we let our voices be heard, just like the French, instead of shrugging our shoulders again and pulling our hair again very accommodating! And not such a weak action as then! At 12.00 all horn or something! I say: find your yellow vest and throw that shit flat!

  4. This so-called boundary is, albeit cleverly carefully, stretched a little further.
If you had heard ten years ago what would be the car and fuel taxes that would be levied, you would probably have responded with "yes I'm not kidding".
But there will come a time when we will no longer accept that people can still catch a plane for a couple of tens of dollars or that tankers and cruise ships are allowed to dock in the port of Rotterdam.

    • Unfortunately, we Dutch are not willing to take real hard action as in France, stand up against those criminals under the leadership of that smiling Rutte. See how long it takes before the border is reached that people are prepared to wear the “yellow” vest and to stand firm in the courtyard and to give a counter-voice that we will not PICK it anymore! I have been fed up with those criminals in the courtyard for a long time, Rutte is allowed by me, as he once said himself, Fuck off! and Fast too

  5. Nice and easy weather, paid civilian, what about all the people who depend on the car or motorcycle to go to work? And outside the city, public transport is being stripped further and further, all just staying at home? Or even go and wear a yellow vest and go to the street ???

  6. What is the RAI doing there? Get out!!!
They only expect to make money from the sale of electric cars and newer fuel cars. Bunch of profiteers !!
Who represents the motorist who can pay?

  7. There is of course a limit to paying taxes. Soon there will be not much to spend / consume for Jan (below) Modal and then the economy will collapse.
