This elegant large NSU RO80 from 1975 is shining in the parking lot of Sander Marinus and Femme de Vries in De Westereen. A car with a short history. It was built by NSU from the last financial breath before Volkswagen took over control.
Car of the year 1967
The futuristic and timeless design of the NSU RO80 and of course the Wankel engine will have played a major role in that assessment. This (golden) classic car has a substantial trunk space, a spacious interior and has become an unforgettable model. The failure of the Wankel engine has led to a very short production time.
Creative labor
On their daily quests, the 'Funky boys' from the Westereen come across examples of this automobile architecture and naturally want to save the monuments of that time. After all, it is an old-timer from the time when the cars still had their own face. So how long this elegant limousine will stay in the parking lot remains to be seen. (Dirk de Jong).

I bought this Ro in 1988 in The Hague, only had a small dent in the door, is it possible, right?
Well, that took two and a half years before the car was ready for the MOT!
Literally blood, sweat and tears (2 x welding eyes!) But after the car left the painter, the result was there!
Now we still drive in an RO, but then out of the bj. 1977, kupfermetalik
Always made my heart beat faster.
Beautiful car, timeless and the sound of the Wankel engine ……
Have been very close to one recently.
So close I could touch him.
Unfortunately my finances are not sufficient to be able to purchase this Magnificent copy!
The Ro80 is for sale and, the son told me, was once purchased by his father, but due to his health it never happened to 'restore' the Ro80.
The car has an original Dutch license plate, dark brown metallic, little rust and as far as I can see / determine in its original condition, 1st paint?
