Recently there has been a lack of clarity about the combination of the transitional arrangement for petrol timers and objecting to the new rules. There is good news for the owner of a vehicle that qualifies for the transitional arrangement. Objections can simply be made against the adjusted MRB rules. This is what Stichting Autobelangen reported on its website this week. However, the invoice must then be paid on time. In the meantime, the Tax and Customs Administration has sent the first invoices for old-timers that are eligible for the transitional arrangement. With this scheme, the owner is eligible for a corresponding rate of € 120 on an annual basis.

Objecting in combination with a transitional arrangement is possible
There was therefore uncertainty about the combination of objection / transitional arrangement. It was argued that owners of a vehicle covered by the transitional arrangement might not be able to object. According to Stichting Autobelangen, this is incorrect. She states on her website that “it is indeed possible for the owner of a vehicle eligible for the transitional arrangement to object once he has received the bill. Of course, the condition applies that the bill must be paid on time. ”

Full rate for transitional arrangement for beneficiaries
Incidentally, there are various owners of petrol motor vehicles aged 26-40 who have simply been charged for the full rate. That happens regularly. Not only owners who registered the vehicle eligible for the transitional arrangement after 30 November 2013 will receive these invoices. Various people who have owned a vehicle in question for much longer are also given such an invoice. In that case, the transitional arrangement must still be applied for via the Tax and Customs Administration via a Special Rate request. In these cases, too, an objection against the amended MRB rules can be submitted once the bill has been paid.

LPG extension
The Special Rate request must in any case also be requested by anyone who has had the gas installation removed from the young or old timer after 30 November and wants to make use of the transitional arrangement. In the meantime, more than 2014 LPG drivers have removed the car from the gas tank in 3.000. “There are many old-timer owners among them. They have a major impact on the growth of expanded LPG installations compared to last year, "says the RDW.

Postponed payment date
Many letters stated a final payment date for 19 April. The tax authorities have postponed the term to a new date. The bill must now be paid no later than 1 May. The deferred date cannot be viewed separately from the fact that the tax authorities sent the assessments later than originally announced. The Tax and Customs Administration had previously reported sending the bills for the transitional arrangement in mid-March. However, the first letters were not sent until the beginning of April.

Pay in time
The Car Interests Foundation urges owners who wish to be eligible for the transitional arrangement - as stated - to pay the bill on time. Therefore, the payment period stated in the letter must be closely monitored. Furthermore, owners who pay too late run the risk that a submitted objection will be rejected.
