Not too high demands are placed on the compressor. 17 psi or just over 1 bar is enough pressure to blow a cloud of positively charged powder in the direction of the part and an 25 liter tank is also fine. In other words, the typical home and garden compressor from the hardware store / Aldi is soon good enough.
It's about baking
If the object is then powdered, the cake still needs to be baked. After all, melting the plastic powder is what powder coating is all about. To initiate that process, a temperature of 180 degrees is required. The purchase of an oven at the local thrift store is recommended. Firing powder coating in the home oven usually results in domestic unrest.
People with a lot of time and patience can also do the baking with a paint burn-off dryer. But first practice some test pieces. Local heating, and you do that quickly with such a hair dryer, results in an ugly / bad end result.
With an electric heater with incandescent spirals, the melting temperature can also be reached nicely gradually.
But if everything goes according to plan, then the shining result is eternity plus fourteen days.
And if it goes wrong? Powder coating can be removed with highly professional, very expensive special paint strippers, by sandblasting or by burning the object clean. Those are all ways that should be done wisely!
