InterClassics Maastricht has reached a new record with 29.660 visitors. An increase of 11,5% was achieved with the number of visitors. For the 23th time, MECC Maastricht organized the exhibition this weekend which now has its place among the major international old-timer events such as Essen, Paris, Padova and Stuttgart. Buyers, enthusiasts and day trippers traveled to Maastricht from home and abroad to view the collection of classic cars, parts and automobilia. And on Saturday the famous Coys auction took place. It went so energetically that Coys has already decided to add luster to the 2017 edition of InterClassics.
InterClassics director Erik Panis is proud of the result: “We try to innovate every year and improve the quality of the exhibition. Both the participants and the visitors have expressed their appreciation for this and the figures now show that it was a great success. That provides energy and inspiration for the coming year. ”
The success of InterClassics
Not only the public was able to find their way back to MECC Maastricht in large numbers. InterClassics Maastricht, which has an exhibition area of 35.000 m2, was already sold out to exhibitors 3 months before the start. In addition, many cars changed hands in recent days, according to the organizers another important condition for the success of the classic car trade fair.
Also successful Coys auction
60 auction items went under the hammer on Saturday afternoon during the well-attended Coys auction at InterClassics Maastricht. With a total sales value of just over 1,8 million Euros and a sale of 67% of the total offer, the prestigious British auction house is very satisfied.
Highlights on successful auction
Highlights of the auction were the beautiful Mercedes 220A Convertible from 1952 that sold for € 144.271 and the extremely elegant Rolls Royce Phantom from 1927, sold for € 137.545. For the more modern collectors, Coys auctioned an original Ferrari 400i from 1983, originally owned by King Hussein of Jordan, for a selling price of € 72.527. Auctioneer Douglas Jamieson: “We are delighted to be back at InterClassics Maastricht. There was great interest in the auction and the bids were competitive. The exhibition has developed into a major event to start the year and we look forward to being present in 2017 as well. The next big event for Coys is the Techno Classica in Essen in April this year. "
2017 edition
In the meantime, the organization is already carefully looking ahead to the next year. InterClassics Maastricht 2017 takes place from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 January 2017 in MECC Maastricht. Again, an anniversary brand will be in the spotlight. The main theme of the next edition is "70 year Ferrari". The Coys auction house will also redecorate the 2017 of InterClassics in Maastricht.
