Renault 12 TS. Owned by Kurt Boomgaard for 21 years

This Renault 12 TS provides a clear insight into the design from the 'seventies'. The middle class car was a great success - especially in France - but also in other countries in Europe. Even after the production period, it was - with the necessary modifications - still produced in Romania as Dacia 1300. The rock-hard original Renault 12 TS from Kurt Boomgaard has been in the possession for 21 years. The car has now been taken back from the stable, clearly alive and kicking despite the many years spent in the garage.

There is a story behind every classic. Kurt explains: “In 1999 a friend got a tip that there was a beautiful Renault 10 TS in a packed garage for more than 12 years and asked me to dig treasure together, because luck has no taste if you don't share it together. The Renault 12 was hidden under a large stack of orange boxes. The razor sharp staples had caused some damage on the hood, but otherwise it was just a nice car with a little rust on the fenders. After purchase, the car was used for daily use until one day the oil level was not noticed enough and the engine stalled en route. That meant replacing the engine and at the same time the decision to park the car first. ”

Goodbye

Kurt has realized for some years that he - as a teacher at the NHL in Leeuwarden - finds too little time to enjoy the classic, in which the Renault 12 TS also yearns for love and care. Despite the splash of emotion, his weakness for this beautiful classic that has almost disappeared, he still follows his mind and thus gives the opportunity for a new life with the next enthusiast.

He is kissed awake again to become the 'pride' in the street and as a moving museum in traffic. This again proves that there is still a chance to find a classic car. Even though that seems to be becoming more and more unthinkable. Fortunately, this brings the Renault 12 TS back into the 'Civil state of the cars' and guarantees positive reactions on the Dutch road.
