Purchasing classics there

One of the showpieces that will be auctioned this week at the auction house Moyersoen in Waalwijk is the 110 Renault Alpine A1973, along with 38 of course other wonderfully beautiful classics such as an Audi 100s Coupe from 1973, a Jaguar E-type Coupe S 1.5 from 1968 and a Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider. But the Alpine, that is certainly one of our favorites. The auction will last until July 8 and not unimportant. Today, Friday July 5, the viewing day is between 14 and 17 pm at Spuiweg 14 in Waalwijk. Entrance is free.

The '73er Alpine - of course in blue - is an 1300cc version. The car has been in the Netherlands since 1997 and in the last 15 years brought a lot of pleasure to one and the same owner. Almost virgin, with only 28.220 kilometers on the clock, the car is of course in a neat and well-maintained condition, with the necessary traces of use.

Renault Alpine A110

The Alpine A110 was presented in 1962 at the Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris as a successor to the Alpine A108. Just like the A108, the A110 was largely based on parts from Renault.

An overwhelming success

The car became really popular around the early 1970s, after the car achieved success in famous rallies. After winning many national rallies in France, many victories were also achieved at international level. The most famous of these was the Monte Carlo Rally in 1971 with Ove Andersson from Sweden at the wheel.

World Championship

After Renault Alpine 100% had taken over, the Alpine A110 was entered for the World Rally Championship and there the Renault Alpine A110 became the car that won the World Championship in 1973. The Renault Alpine also became an export product with West Germany and Italy as the largest customers. In 1975 the A110 was last officially used by the factory. Although four-valve engines were installed this time, the car could not compete with more modern competitors such as the Lancia Stratos. However, the homologation was valid until January 1 1984, so the A110 was used many times by private individuals.

The car offered at the Moyersoen auction house is equipped with an 1300cc engine, but at the time an 1600cc engine was also possible. In 1975, the car was fitted with an 1.647cc engine before 1977 rolled off the last A110 in June. That was not a blue one, but a green one. In total, only such an 10.000 was made. So all in all it is still an exclusive classic. A quarter consisted of license building abroad.

License building

The Alpine is therefore not only made in the Alpine factory itself, but also in many other factories around the world that built the car under license. That happened in Spain, Mexico, Brazil and even in Bulgaria. There is some quarreling about the (construction) quality of those cars. But they are real enough.

The measurements

The Renault Alpine is graceful, elegant and at the same time aggressive and tough. And it was made in the time that the average South European (say 'everyone under Brussels') was sawed off approximately 1 meters and 70 centimeters. And a South Italian from 1.67 meter was really not small at the time.

The interior dimensions of the Renault Alpine A110 are tailored to those dimensions. To put it cautiously: a Dutch 50 + er of 1.87 meters and with a weight of 95 kilo (and that is actually quite neat) must conditionally be quite foldable to fit in. Or to be able to come out independently again.

This Alpine ... a great opportunity?

The starting bid for this Alpine is by the way at € 43.500, which has not been offered yet. Given the value of a nice specimen such as this one, which can still lie around the 80 mille, it's still a bargain.

  1. If this is an original 1300 there is the wrong engine in it
Or it is a Spanish fasa but then there is an 1400 Alpine motor in it
