This charming and aristocratic Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph is now 24 years old, with a fully documented maintenance history.
The history begins in the Netherlands in 1972, when Hessing Automobielbedrijven became an importer of Rolls-Royce and Bentley, during the period of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. Before that time this was not the case Citroëntechnology, a technically advanced car from the top segment. The Silver Seraph was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1998, and in 2000 this car was registered in the Netherlands for Mr. B. Bakker, who owned the copy (with a new price of € 303.000, or NLG 667.000). The fact that the car immediately came with a Dutch license plate was already remarkable; most copies had license plates from other countries, which alone saved €83.000 in BPM.
Anton van Dijke: Classic Park
The Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph subsequently entered the collection of Anton van Dijke, founder and former owner of Classic Park, where it remained in the collection for 11 years. The next owner, Mr. Groen, drove it on the Monaco license plate from 2017 to January 2020, after which he sold the car again to Classic Park in Boxtel (which also explains the number 1 on the license plates). The trail could be followed further; the next owner became a veterinarian, but he used it little or not at all, and again the car was put back on the market through Classic Park.
The Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph is of the second generation, this time with white flashing lights and a navigation system. Thanks to a tip from a good friend, Joost van der Velde, also crazy about Rolls-Royce, it turned out that it was for sale in the club magazine of the Rolls-Royce and Bentley club de Mascotte. The Seraph came back into Mark's mind after 22 years. He didn't hesitate for a moment and with a call to Almelo (where it was for sale) he became the owner within half an hour. His dream became reality when the car came to Schoorl in July 2022.
The car has been completely checked and serviced at Veerman Classics in Huizen, the Rolls and Bentley specialist in the Netherlands, after which it was fully polished by Danny from DDS in Oudkarspel. The car has now driven 130.000 kilometers and is still as new.
Mark's story
Mark: “Almost unbelievable, I was only 13 years old when I saw a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow standing in Langweer in Friesland at the owner's bungalow. There, sitting on a sleeper, the very friendly owner approached me. 'So, do you like it?!' I was completely devastated. Mr. Smilde, formerly of the fat melting plant, asked me if I wanted to go for a ride. Then it was done and completely off the map! One day I will buy and drive a Rolls-Royce. A Rolls-Royce and/or Bentley is not a car but an asset, in a word fantastic!”
Gem on the road
Whether you want it or not, these special cars of high standing and chic continue to attract people like a magnet. Mark's enthusiasm is proof.
Passion is inspiring
With this story, Mark clearly shows that one thing cannot be changed. He lives his passion, no room for compromises, passionate about what he does with the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph, being enthusiastic and living from the heart, isn't that the most beautiful thing?
The designer of the chairs must have missed it – or must have a sardonic sense of humor. Because people from the healthcare sector and users immediately recognize the accentuated contours and position of an incontinence pad in these luxurious armchairs.
Perhaps unnecessarily a suggestion that RR owners are also ordinary people.
I have to level myself again, so that at least the drool can run out of my mouth on both sides. What a beautiful car it is!! Yes Dirk, it is another beautiful piece!
What a beautiful car, the color combination is unique.
I have also had the opportunity to drive this car myself, it is quiet and has great handling.
Yes, these types of cars need maintenance, then they are in good hands at Veerman classics, I have had very positive experiences with them, I really care about the business and the car.
Mark, how come you put on gems, you really have a nose for them, I wish I was that rich, I'm happy with my old bike
Greetings Dick
Another beautiful piece Dirk!
This amazing Rolls is also a beauty to see and to work on, an absolute privilege!
And with Mark as owner you know he is in good hands 🙂
