Purchasing classics there

Last night the Senate definitively accepted the bill regarding the 40 year compromise. After yesterday it became clear that the VVD and the PvdA supported the new arrangement, it became clear during the voting that a majority of the Senate definitively supported the 40-year compromise. This was agreed by State Secretary for Finance Weekers and the old-timer alliance (KNAC, FEHAC, RAI Association, BOVAG, ANWB and FOCWA) in April.

The autumn coalition delegates in the Senate have secured a majority on the 40 year compromise.
The autumn coalition delegates in the Senate have secured a majority on the 40 year compromise.

40 year compromise final
The measure means that the old-timer owner with a vehicle that is younger than 40 will pay the full MRB rate from next year. For owners of petrol vehicles, the exception is that if the car is 26 years or older, they pay the quarterly rate, on condition that the motor vehicle is parked in the winter months of December, January and February.

Disproportionately burdened
The hammer blow in the First Chamber means the end of a period of uncertainty for the old-timer owners and industry. They were assisted in an impressive way by Team Vrijstellingoldtimer in the past year. Wouter van Embden's club demonstrated in a decent but very thorough manner that the measure now ratified can never produce the estimated revenue and will even cost a few hundred million. It also became clear that the usefulness and necessity could not be demonstrated, and that the old-timer owner was disproportionately burdened with the introduction of the new exemption rules.

Autumn agreement important basis for agreement in Senate
After the publication of the Budget Memorandum in September - which included the 40-year compromise - Team Exemptionoldtimer started an intensive lobby in the Upper and Lower Chamber. There appeared to be growing support for the work of Wouter van Embden et al. In the Senate in particular, many members - partly on the basis of all the findings of the Autobelangen Foundation - indicated that they had serious doubts about the old-timer section in the Budget Memorandum. That raised expectations with the old-timer supporters. But the prospect of maintaining the current exemption rules was clouded when it became clear that the fall agreement in the Lower House - which led to the majority approving the 2014 Tax Plan - actually automatically secured the same majority in the Senate.

Deep in the pouch
It was therefore not surprising that a majority in the Senate also chose to support the Ministry of Finance and the Second Chamber majority. The motion of the PVV in which it was requested that the transitional arrangement for petrol cars also apply to the old-timer on LPG and Diesel did not make it. The old-timer owner can still keep his or her proud possession on the road for a whole year. To do this, they have to take a deep look and lose a lot of purchasing power (in some cases up to 15%). For 200.000 people that knowledge means that the possession of the cherished old-timer is emphatically endangered. The pressure on specialized companies is now only increasing. These are important behavioral consequences that, for the majority in the Senate, were not the guiding principle in the decision to vote for the 40 year compromise. That was the fall agreement in the Lower House. Because that was where the basis was laid for the majority in the Senate. And last night, he approved the bill to raise the exemption limit to 40 year. And that is a decision that draws a bill on the owner, the branch and the State Treasury.

  1. Don't understand anything about it. We had been doing it for a few years anyway. That is why I have had to dispose of part of my vehicles for little. :-(.
Thank you to all who voted in favor of this.

  2. Indeed, if everyone now panics and puts their classic for sale, the whole market will collapse and you will ruin it for yourself. Perhaps there will be an amendment to the law. Politics is always a long battle, but the game is not quite over yet. Various actions will follow. Suspend for the time being and wait.

  3. Bought, after the decision of the previous government in 2012, a completely refurbished Mercedes 230 C from 1978. My other car was broken into the parking lot overnight, without a note. Have driven 7000 km in the past year. That will probably not be anymore. Pay in Deventer for a parking permit in the city center, do not have a garage. Written to the municipality… does not want to give a 3 month dispensation. A car in the parking lot is a road user, even if you don't use it .. the RDW told me… wrote to many 1st and 2nd MPs .. had no reactions. Am ill, with metastatic prostate cancer, had a heart attack in June. The car is therefore necessary. My old mother lives in Rotterdam. Within a year a completely new policy from our representatives. And then also a policy that differs completely from the usual in Europe… .. As a citizen you are powerless and they are talking about reliable, transparent ect etc…. unbelievable ... Hope that lawsuits will yield something ... Only this car will now cost me extra next year: € 756, - road tax plus a license of € 233, - and that for a car with which I drive less than 8000 km or I have to buy a garage or renting .. while the government took a well-considered decision and this well-considered decision is now changing again… FINE and CLEAR country we live in !!!

  4. Marcel Cordewener, due to government. As soon as it ends, we'll be fucked up here. And idd complaining does not solve anything. But who says I'm complaining? There will certainly be actions. As soon as the situation permits here.

  5. I sold my car immediately yesterday, it goes abroad of course. what I am going to start now is older than 50 years, so mrb is not earned for me. Only the garage where part of the maintenance and the MOT was done has lost this work.

  6. Folks, do not get rid of your sweetheart for an apple and an egg, suspend en masse and wait, there must be someone who, just like you and I, understands that this does not work, that this does not yield the state mrb, but missed VAT income and missed income tax costs? Moreover, the number of bankruptcies will rise further and unemployment will rise. Yes, they are really doing a good job of self-destructing our Netherlands! The classic traders write off en masse, so even less income tax. If everyone now also gets rid of the old-timer for next to nothing, that is also a massive capital destruction! Wait and see, who knows, maybe it will be different in a while and you will soon regret getting rid of your oldtimer.

  7. I wonder to whom I should report as a company for compensation, do you turn your hobby into your work, do you build a self-sufficient company, do you pay the state for your own initiative, and now I have a complete workshop with stock worth about 500.000 earned through hard work and now unsellable.
She once said that Dutch entrepreneurs should have more of a VOC mentality. I think they did quite a lot of robbing and looting under the guise of trade, we should also do it.

  8. It may be clear that I will now do everything I can to ensure that the state will earn as little as possible on me. In all areas. That means, suspension of oldtimer, purchase of oldtimer from pre 1974 on LPG, refueling, parts and groceries, everything from abroad. I will even make sure that I have to pay even less wage tax! In short, The Hague fuck with its own rules.

  9. I especially sympathize with all the enthusiasts who won in an apartment in the city
they now have a serious problem
a parking permit, mrb and insurance, but he may not even be at the door in December, January, February
and of course with all enthusiasts of that clean LPG (I certainly belong to that with a 540i from 97 on LPG with 10000km per year)
    cursed land = the Netherlands
soon to southern europe, our money is already there
