The British Queen Queen Elisabeth received a Renault Dauphine during a factory visit to Renault on 10 April 1957. In a special pale color that one 'Royal Blue'(but more inclined to' green ') and was included in the sales brochure. At Renault, this was thought to stimulate sales in Great Britain - where these cars were also built.

The cart was delivered to the palace a few days later and served as a shopping cart for housekeeping. They raced around with great enthusiasm, until - according to the stories - one of the servants put the thing in 1961 on his roof. End of the Royal Renault Dauphine. This story was recently refuted by a (elderly) gentleman who bought the car - with license plate 362 GLM - in 1968. He reported that the royal household in 1963 had said goodbye to the Renault Dauphine. The owner from 1968 said that he was driving around the Renaultje with pleasure - and hassle-free - until a friend of his was able to convince him that he "had to" sell the trolley to him. That was mid 1971. That friend pushed the cart a little and would sell it a few months later to a gentleman from Plymouth. The appointment was made. The day before - we are talking about October 1971 - it was rainy and there was quite a bit of wind. Two ingredients that don't make Dauphine happy. After some exuberant Pub visit, he rushed home, slipped and hit the cart several times. Only then did it end with the Royal Renaultje…

10 is April 1957. The British queen is offered a Dauphine as a surprise (...) after a tour of the French Renault factory ...
